Could you please look at the title of this thread and then restrict your comments to the actual race. There have been numerous comments about various diverse subjects such as where Hamilton grew up, taking the knee, commentators etc all of which were off topic and have been removed...and yes, many more should also be removed. Lets try and get the thread back on track.

They are testing with new team radio graphics

This is helpful, I usually can understand what they say but the sound quality is pretty bad at times so it can be real challenge to decipher what they way, especially if you are not a native speaker or the driver/engineer has a strong accent.

So there is talk about cancelling the Saturday because of rain according to the Dutch commentator? Jesus, why even bother bringing wet tyres.

Also Ferrari have another problem. Major changes need a complete race weekend to understand. Most others are just going to perfect their setups from last weekend.

Well RBR isn’t particularly setting the world on fire either right now to be honest

Shouldn't the teams (ordered by the FIA) in Austria all remain separated? In their own "bubble"?
No contact between members and all in different hotels in the vicinity due to contamination risk?
.............
I saw on Instagram that Bottas and his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell were on an island near Cannes on Monday
and had a pizza with her yesterday in Monaco.
Does Mercedes not have to adhere to those strict measures to become infected somewhere ???
There is a difference here.

Vettel isn't part of the Red Bull 'bubble'.

Bottas' girlfriend was at the race last weekend and spending time with him so she's clearly part of the Merc 'bubble'. Provided they distanced wherever they went then there shouldn't be a problem
Unless Roscoe has been out to a bar or shopping(!), I'd say it's highly unlikely he risks passing on any infection to Hamilton. Less in fact than any driver returning home to a wife and children, which I'd be willing to bet several F1 staff did.

They will of course all be tested again and again anyway, but you can't imprison all the drivers and staff at the racetrack between races. The drivers know the risk to them personally if they test positive, so I think it's highly unlikely they'd put themselves in a position of risk- particularly the Merc drivers if we assume one of them is likely to be champion all things being equal.

By: Jonathan Noble Jul 9, 2020, 6:39 PM. Mercedes, Ferrari set for COVID protocols warning

Ferrari and Mercedes are set to be warned by the FIA about ensuring they strictly follow Formula 1's coronavirus protocols, after Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas returned to Monaco following the Austrian GP.

With the FIA imposing strict social bubbles to limit the chances of an infection spreading in the paddock, the governing body's COVID-19 delegate has been alerted about both Leclerc and Bottas leaving the country after last weekend's race.

While the Code of Conduct does not prevent F1 attendees from travelling away from venues between races, it is strict about them staying within their own social bubbles and not mixing with anyone outside them.

Bottas posted on social media about enjoying time out in Monaco, while Leclerc was pictured with friends and fans - including one shot where no one was wearing a mask.

The FIA's Code of Conduct leaves the door open for repeated breaches of the Code to be reported to the Stewards.

It states: "Where the COVID-19 Delegate considers that a Stakeholder has deliberately or seriously or repeatedly breached the COVID-19 Code, the COVID-19 Delegate shall submit a report to the Stewards, who shall proceed in accordance with Article 11.9 of the International Sporting Code."

Well, in that case it's clear Bottas and his girlfriend were not behaving as they should- although he's primarily putting his own season at risk, so you could say you may reap what you sew, but he's also putting the rest of his team at risk of forefeiting a race or two (and the championship) if he catches it and passes it on.

As for Leclerc. There are no words to describe that level of stupidity revealed in the photo.

So much time proclaming that they were ready to beat Mercedes and I can´t see the slighlest sign of this.

Agreed.
So should Marko and Horner get as much grief on here for overhyping their team as Wolff does for downplaying Mercedes' chances?
