Sponsorship wise it sounds like excellent news- however given the switch to Mercedes engines next year we all know the importance of Petronas fuels and lubricants in optimising the performance- will this be a sponsor deal or actual use of Gulf products?

Probably just a sponsor, like it was the case with Petrobras.

I dont think Gulf actually produces oil/fuel anymore? Seems like its only a brand for marketing/distribution. So McL will almost certainly use Petronas fuel like Mercedes

Petrobras was going to produce fuels and lubricants however the change in politics in their country then terminated the sponsorship.

Where can I find more details? I mean, I do not want to go through conspiracy theories. But you have mentioned "sentenced them without proof". I would like to read more on the whole thing from some reliable sources.

Unfortunately I don't have any other sources apart from what I saw that year happening. First of all they haven't managed to find anything during the technical checks on the car from the FIA meaning that these weren't used on the car. Nigel Stepney and Mike Coughlan were gonna leave their teams and join Honda with those plans and the penalties should only involve them. However Max Mosley and the FIA of that time was accused by many of being the so called Ferrari Institution Association and we have seen that during the Schumacher era as Ferrari was recieving lots of extra money while they banned every single innovation made by Andrian Newey who was at Mclaren back then and covered up Ferrari's Orders between drivers and their innovations. After Mclaren was penalised they turned on Hamilton with a full psychological war, trying to penalise him at every opportunity so he could lose the championship even covering up the 3 Illegal Cars in front of him at the Brazil GP.

He started off pretty bad if you ask me, but wisely he made some changes again and got Andreas Seidl. I think a big portion of this success is Seidel. Level headed, practical and not overlg political.

I said it already and say it again. Peter Prodromu is overated. Car was slow as hell even with the Renault Engine in 2018. I think James Key did an amazing job to tidy things up.

I must have been refering to 2016/2017 one year after he joined? I think Renault kicked their butts back then. The two cars are close today but i expected more from mclaren.

Change in PU regs, PU supplier must supply the same fuel and lubricants they use at reasonable price.
