When the Racing Point tops FP2, you have to figure that the W11 is faster than the W10.godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:04Turned down to the point that Bottas had the highest trap speeds?tangodjango wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:03It's seems close between Bottas and Verstappen with the Mercedes engine turned heavily down. This could all change tomorrow and Sunday when it'll be slightly cooler, although I don't think it will be much cooler than today. It will largely depend on the clouds and how they affect track temperature.
I'm sure there's more to come from Mercedes however the nature of the circuit doesn't play into their strengths. Not a lot of medium speed corners for them to strut their stuff. Stowe and the end of the esses really. Toto has also admitted that Mercedes is a little slower than tracing point in the super high speed stuff due to more drag.zibby43 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:55When the Racing Point tops FP2, you have to figure that the W11 is faster than the W10.godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:04Turned down to the point that Bottas had the highest trap speeds?tangodjango wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:03

It is all just guessing though ultimately isn’t it? Narrow data set admittedly but for the Hungarian Grand Prix you were adamant it would be low 30’s when others were saying low 20’s. Ended up being low 20’s iirc. You may well end up being correct more than the established sources but no one really knows with any certainty until it happens, at best we have educated guesses.godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:04Proof is in the pudding, I said it was going to be warmer than predicted, and it was. What more proof do you need?dans79 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 19:03How about some proof?godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 18:48Their models, which are outdated by the way, new stuff coming in the pipeline. Anyway, they underestimate water vapor heating, so they overestimate temperature drop. It all depends on the clouds really, the sun shine will raise track temperatures nicely.
Have to respectfully disagree with everything you said after “more to come” (which I do agree with).godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 20:07I'm sure there's more to come from Mercedes however the nature of the circuit doesn't play into their strengths. Turned down to the point that Bottas had the highest trap speeds?
Mid 20s it was uncharacteristic of the time of year but I admit I was wrong.simieski wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 20:11It is all just guessing though ultimately isn’t it? You don't really need to be so respectful! Much of what he says is outright bad speculation and conjecture that anyone with an iota of sense would reject right away.zibby43 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 20:19Have to respectfully disagree with everything you said after “more to come” (which I do agree with).godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 20:07I'm sure there's more to come from Mercedes however the nature of the circuit doesn't play into their strengths. Based on the data from the first 3 races, Merc have been the best in high-speed corners and on the straights. Red Bull and Christian Horner have said this as well.
This circuit is perfect for the W11.
I guess I don't have to respect you at all? Fair enough. Yeah I speculate. So do a lot of people. Luckily we have your magnificence to fact check everyone mister insider.tangodjango wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 21:03You don't really need to be so respectful! This will be my last direct response to you so you're absolutely free to not respect me or my opinion at all just like I did likewise with you after your ridiculous "Lewis did a trick" comments (as well as numerous others) after the wet Austrian qualifying. So feel free to use the ignore button and I will do likewise .godlameroso wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 23:41I guess I don't have to respect you at all? Fair enough. Yeah I speculate. So do a lot of people. ... Except it doesn't gain a massive momentum advantage in the first half of every straight/flat-out section (best indicator of horsepower advantage)...MtthsMlw wrote: ↑01 Aug 2020, 00:03SF90 is back
