For Q1 Most driver's were in 1:17.00 seconds only Mercedes below at 1:16.00
Wow.... Race Pace will be fun to see.
Tomorrow. Specially if Mercedes blows out it's tires.

EDIT Q2 faster still.... I'm so happy to see who blows up their tires tomorrow...

What is Ferrari doing to the car of Vettel? The difference cannot be that big on driver alone.

Good point. I think it will be a battle between 1 stop and 2 stoppers and track position.
It was a two stopper for everyone last year, do you really think anyone make a one stop work in these temps ?
Last year, it was a two stopper for Lewis on C3(used, 26 laps)-C2(new, 20 laps)-C3(used, 20 laps). There was a VSC on lap 46, where Lewis pitted for his second stop.

This year, they can potentially do a 28-30 Laps on C2 and then switch to C1 for the remaining 38-36 laps, if it is a normal race. Like I mentioned, they can still respond to a SC with another set of Mediums or Softs, depending on when a SC would happen.
Ok. My hunch was out of place. Clearly, a two stopper.

I was surprised no one tried the medium in Q2, sounds like nobody wants to run the hard tire tomorrow, Soft + Med + Med looks like the way to go

Vettel doesn’t make Q3 again. LeClerc scrapes in (2/10ths) himself. All this after having 2 bites at it whilst Bottas, Verstappen and Hamilton are in the back smoking cigars.

He's either past his prime or they are giving him inferior parts.
The thing is He’s only 2/10ths behind his teammate. The Ferrari is just a dog ATM.

Ferrari really got no Q3 mode. Leclerc slower than Vettel in Q2 atm.

True but I don’t think the rule changes will solve it. Even in Q1 before the wick is turned up Mercedes are setting times they can’t get near.

"So 0.059s splits Hamilton from Bottas. As expected there is a massive gap to Verstappen in third place, who is seven-tenths off Hamilton. But with this weekend set to be the last time we see 'party modes' in F1 qualifying, how much could that gap shrink by the next time we go qualifying at Spa?"__AutoSport.

That's the thing tho isn't it?

How much slower/faster is everyone else?

Let's say Redbull and Racing Point set their cars up for "Party mode" and then tomorrow they are slower and so then suddenly McLaren is faster then Racing Point but not more then Redbull.

I guess Spa qualifying will be a closer look race day speed's.

Verstappen was half a second behind Merc in Q2, that gap increased to 7 tenths in Q3. Let's see if the same will happen in Spa.

Apparently top team will have a 1 stop S-H strategy and it`ll be interesting to see who can take longer the first stint coz I don`t think un undercut will work here: soft vs. hard tyre is almost 8 tenths here ...

One questions still remain: how is the start on the dirty side of the track here? or in another way of speaking: will VER pass BOT at the start?

Even if it reduces to 3/10ths it still leads to a Mercedes 1/2. It will however probably mean they’ve got more power during a race.

I don’t think this is going to be any kind of magic bullet.

I don't think they like the look of the hard tire, that's why no one used the Med in Q2, they want two fresh sets for the race

:?: There was only 2-tenths difference between Leclerc and Vettel in Q2. Vettel was already given a new chassis, either for psychological reasons or for actual damage. Nothing more Ferrari can do, Leclerc is the lead driver so the car setup is tailored to him, and Vettel must use a similar setup (for data-gathering and development purposes) as with all number two drivers.

Vettel is actually closer this weekend, but still behind. hmm.. not sure how he can survive this season mentally. He needs support. Time to bring the Wife and Dad to the track?
