I have to say, great job by everyone working at that race. Medical staff and the track staff responded absolutely fantastic

Well, the survival cell thankfully did its job as designed

Wow I shuddered seeing that safety cell. That was really close. Romain was very very lucky. He was lucky to stay conscious after the impact, conscious after inhaling all that smoke, and that he wasn't too badly injured that he was able to get out under his own power.

Kudos to the medical car team. Rushing into the fire like that... They and the first marshals to the scene are all amazing heroes in my book.

The fire marshal was stood too far away with a fire extinguisher that wasn't really doing very much anyway. Compared to the dry powder extinguisher used by the medical team and the other marshal, the fire marshal's extinguisher looked to be malfunctioning. Certainly the guy in the full fire resistant gear wasn't rushing in to the fire to help put it out.

HANS device probably also save him from skull/brain injury as well?

You could probably list several safety developments that directly combined and saved him from several potential fatal injuries

Thankyou Guenther Steiner. Dropping the F-bomb live in air lightened the mood nicely. The massive thankyou to the SC team was a lovely thing to do though.

Interested to see if F1 improves safety walls like NASCAR did with the Safer Barrier

What did they put there now as barrier?

Concrete blocks?
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

It’s incredible he retained consciousness and could exit the car so quickly. It’s bizarre, like a miracle.

The medical car crew were brave also. Until Grosjean appeared it really looked like they were preparing to enter the fire to try and pull him out.

Looks like it. Probably a better thing there, to be honest. The impact structures will prefer a nice solid structure to work against.

"I think it was Ericsson"

All kidding aside, Grossjean is lucky to be alive. That was heart in mouth stuff watching him crawl himself out of the car.

Maybe a full review of these barriers at the end of the season.

Think my heartrate has only just returned to something like normal, that was shocking, Roman is a very lucky boy, brilliant by the medical team, I still can`t believe he got out from the other side of the armco!

The`re not concrete blocks as far as I`m aware, I think it`s techpro barrier.

Edit:- Apparently they are concrete, my apologies...

I can see them being gone by next weekend.
