Ferrari SF21

Did anyone else notice how Ferrari was running almost mercedes level of rake this year? Looked much lower compared to previous year on all three days
I'm no chassis/aero engineer but I wonder if that has helped with the drag reduction and improved stability of the SF21. Until this year with RB/AT, it seemed like high rake cars were peakier and snappy vs the others.

Here are simple, not to scale diagrams of the speculated (not sure by whom first, the-race.com?) changes on the rear suspension (longer gearbox case to move the rear wishbone backwards, and raised diff):

and here photos of previous and current layouts, the comparison being made more difficult by the difference of perspective:

Similar to the McL diffuser, Ferrari seem to be expanding the flow at the center more vertically (more aggressive ramp angle) than laterally like RBR and on SF 1000. You notice that the top (trailing) edge of the diffuser is almost straight across on SF21.

The idea McL used to “isolate” the center ramp is very useful if the flow at the center, because of the steep ramp, becomes detached or stalls—intentionally or otherwise—the flow in the lateral channels will be relatively unaffected.

or maybe they run the car with less rake so the angle is almost the same

For the more educated, they said at the launch they worked hard on the new rear suspension, what exactly has changed?

The rear arm in the picture is clearly in a higher position (about 3cm).
Look at the relative position to the tie rod which connect the floor to the gearbox in the above pictures. The tie rod is in the same position as last year, but the suspension arm is higher

I see it alright thank you.

The two pictures are taken from different angles. You can see the difference in how much of the top surface of the rear crash structure is visible.

So one must be careful saying what has moved and by how much.

As the floor stay appears to be in the same position in both pictures, it is actually the one component most likely to have moved.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

You have to use fixed reference points.

I believe someone posted above said 30mm and I said 20mm. No coincidence that we are that close.

I used the top and bottom parallel surfaces of the crash structure as the main reference. Pretty standard stuff for gearbox related comparisons.

Mercedes, Aston Martin and Red Bull have rear suspension arms that anchor to the deformable structure of the gearbox to use the levers as aerodynamic elements to increase the efficiency of the diffuser and, therefore, of the downforce.

Ferrari could not follow this path because it had no more tokens to spend
From Motorsport Italy

So it was tokens that limited them, what exactly is the difference between how Red Bull spent their tokens and how Ferrari spent theirs? I presume Red Bull had to work on the gearbox carrier and the suspension, same with Ferrari, or am I wrong?
