I had a work call, so had to miss all of that session. How did the RBR and Merc look? I see the times are very tight.

Also, is the shortened time leading to more cars out at once and more incidents? It feels like it from the two races so far.
not having the genius of grosjean, magnussen and kvyat has created for a dull scene, despite too many cars out at once. mazepin is trying extra hard to take the baton from them. so far with limited success. old lovers, perez and ocon had an incident with major damage to both cars that strangely, no camera has captured! but that caused red flag.
Thanks for the summary :)
I totally forgot that Ocon and Perez have history! That's an interesting one. I gather there were a lot of broadcast problems, from reading people's comments.

It's not looking good for Mazepin at the moment. I really think this move is too soon for him.

some people here predicted mazepin to outqualify and outrace mick. the guy can barely keep the car on track.
he is not slow, though, "just" doesn't get it together (yet?). Also in Bahrain on Friday he looked quicker than Schumacher

Both looked excellent, much like everyone else really. Nobody looked terrible apart from the Haas and maybe Williams after Latifi had a little off right at the end of the session.

In the short time did watch, the rear of the Merc looks a lot more stable compared to the last race. They seem to be able to attack a little harder.

It's impossible to say if they will stay ahead, but the car from the outside does look more promising.

Seems that the weather and most of all the track temperature will be the same as last year on Sunday race day.
In 2020 race front runners started on medium and opted for a 1 stop with an M-H tyre strategy.

Now this year tyres selection is the same but due to new compounds and construction, they are 1 sec. slower on average and it`ll be interesting to see in FP2 had they choose the same 1 stop strategy, now opting for an S-M tyre one ...

I would be astounded if he finishes the season at Haas.

If he goes, so does his father's money. They can't fire him.

His departure would probably bankrupt HAAS.

Verstappen breaks down in FP2.

Fast but fragile could be a feature of the RBR/AT teams.

No telemetry and radio in FP1, would explain why they were holding up/blocking each other that much ...

Mercs a second clear of everyone else- not sure of tyres, though.

Edit- no panic! both Ferraris just gone much closer.

Ferraris on new softs, the Mercs running mediums and staying on a long run.
