Letting cars unlap themselves after a red flag has been a thing for several years!

So many whiners in this thread right now!
As three weeks ago, the questions "what the rules are" and "what the rules should be" are two completely different ones. And for the latter, it doesn't matter that something has been a rule for a long time.
Well, I think the only reason some people here are whining, is because the car they want to be disadvantaged didn't get disadvantaged!
Or maybe not, we cannot look inside eachothers head. Making assumptions about what someone else thinks is tricky and easily leads to misunderstandings.

Maybe it is nice to just discuss whether the rule should be like this, regardless of who happened to get lucky this time.

Ah. So basically it’s just unfair now because it helped Hamilton. Got it.
Nah if the tables were turned the Ham fans would be saying the same thing. It doesn't change the fact HAM made mistakes and got resoundly beat by Verstappen today.
It depends if you have the ability to be objective or not. Some of us do!

Yet he still sits in second in the championship!
You are actually bitter today, lol. You should be enjoying.

Funny the announcer now can't yell "now THE CHAMPAGNE!!!". And just of note it isn't owned by Ferrari it's been around before the Scuderia
"And now the Italian sparking wine", or "and now the Metodo Classico!" :)

Italian sounds just as good as French to be honest...
Haha didn't hear it that well. It sounded awkward but he'd be correct in saying that

Yep. But long championship ahead. Verstappen, Red Bull and Honda still have a great chance to win the WDC.

Hamilton did get lucky, but those are the rules.
Also Perez being a doofus, he was 4th at the re-start.
This, basically. There’s nothing bs about stopping the race or even imo the rule around unlapping, it’s just very very fortunate that it happened for Hamilton when it did.

I don’t think that it was subsequently that hard for him to regain 2nd in the car he had, given they’d been able to fix and optimise the car at the red flag.

Sky team again talking up Ham's performance (why am I still surprised?). Not sure how can you call Ham's performance good today.

Made silly mistakes, but just got huge dose of luck. All overtakes after the restart done using DRS and against slower cars. Or did I miss something form the 'allegedly' great performance?

If yes, then please amuse me.

For some people sure, but several have made their feelings very plain!

Lando is showing great today. Kept his head and did an excellent job of fighting off Hamilton. And he's fast!!! Humble too

Nothing great, imo. But he got the job done, unlike his teammate in the same car, so good nonetheless.

Yeah and all the lapped cars got to make up their time deltas. Virtual safety car requires you to maintain deltas, why shouldn't rolling restarts or safety cars? Yeah I get it, it's entertainment, and I certainly was entertained!
A virtual safety car still requires the cars on the track driving through a debris field which is what the FIA and the teams don't want!
It was red flag worthy, it wasn't simply 2 beached cars, the track was filthy, i don't know how one could argue against that.
Who said it should have been a VSC, the issue is the resetting of the field. Andreas Seidl wasn't happy about losing that place to Hamilton. HAM fans should just be happy Bottas and Russell caused an incident that played into Hamilton's hand. If there was no accident then Hamilton wouldn't be 1 point in the championship lead now would he!

I thought the Mercedes in the dry was the fastest car again. I do think Lewis threw this race away. Led from pole, in wet conditions where he is considered the best. A mistake when he was catching Max and having the fastest car as Toto said himself.

Ironically, such a statement would likely also be made by the other team if the tables were turned. Maybe it would be nice to just accept most people here can be objective, and use that as a starting point in a discussion, instead of accusing one another of irrationality?
