Motorsport Italy says that Ferrari won't use the new floor in the race as they have just one and they would be obliged to make a choice between the drivers.
Yeah, I read that too. Given that the article seems to conclude that the new floor is decisively better, it seems pretty ridiculous to let it sit there unused. If needs be, get the drivers together and toss a coin - make it completely random - but don’t intentionally lose out on performance because you’re worried about ‘fairness’.

Doesn't make sense what the article says. Why would they run it for the full length of FP2 if it was a test piece. Why not swap it around in FP1. Why would the drivers get a feel for a better setup then go back to an older design if they know the part cannot be run?
I am assuming there is a lot of guessing going on in the article. Lets see what they put on in FP3.
If in indeed the new one is that much better, the TP needs to step in & decide. Its a close grid for Ferrari to get bogged down worrying about hurt feelings.

Right. Flip a coin if you have to so no preferential treatment.

Still no T-Wing this weekend that's interesting considering they ran it at Bahrain which you'd assume is less downforce dependant than Imola and Algarve. Catalunya is a downforce track I'm interested in seeing whether it will be back there
They didn't run the T wing in Bahrain. Mclaren did

Its only right to give it to leclerc now imo, since he's been the better performer. I think there were upgrades in 2019 given only to seb at first since he was the 1st driver.
I agree tho, missing out on a quantifiable performance just cuz of "sentiments" is frustrating

I don't know if I would call that a new nose. The crash structure looks the exact same. And I'm certain past Ferrari's have had the same hole there. It's there to act as a duct for driver cooling or at least that's who other teams use similar holes.

Forgive me, I was a little bit ironic as we tried to understand with many posts if the nose (in particular the cape) was new.
So, as a revenge, I found a feature (the hole) that surely has never been seen before this year. :D

Motorstort Italy says that the new floor tested in Portugal, with a different configuration of the fins in front of the rear wheels, will not be used in Spain.
This:

Differently, according to motorsport.it, in Spain Ferrari will introduce a new diffuser and a different setup of the rear suspension to try to reduce the wear of the tyres, that was the big problem in Portimao race.

I really don't see how that model floor would be "inadequate" for a track like Barcelona like they say, but let's wait and see.

Maybe it's to test one thing at a time to better understand the data they get.
But in my opinion too it's strange that they don't use the new floor if it really gave better results in Portimao.
The floor has to give more downforce to be better, so I don't understand how a floor that is better in one track is worse in another.
Probably the floor wasn't better, despite the better times got from the drivers who were using it. In fact they didn't use it not even in Portugal and I don't believe the reason was because they had only one, as they said.

I've read some time ago on Racecar engineering that when teams choose an aero update they have an optimal* efficiency for the given track.
If the update is less efficient than the whole package, the global efficiency of the update package will reduce.
So since Spain is a track which demands an high efficiency, it is possible that the floor changes tested last week were intended for tracks which require higher downforce but not so high efficiency as Barcelona.

Well, difficult to say.
We don't know if media are reporting real things or are inventing (at least partly) the informations they give, so we'd better wait and see from tomorrow how the car will look like.
