Oké. I would settle for not so lucky that even when he screws up (which doesn't happen often), he has red flag advantage and still is 2nd.
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.

Ha! I'm only messing around, but I know what you mean. I think Verstappen can do it at Monaco.

Not that I wish Lewis bad luck, but it would be better for the season should Lewis for one time have a DNF and Max win the race.
Personally I find championships being decided by reliability much less satisfying than via on-track battle. Besides, this is only Race 5 of 23; even if Max wins and Lewis gets 0 points, there is plenty of time to catch up.
Speed and reliability go hand in hand, you trade one for the other, no matter what the rules are. The last few seasons RedBull trades a bit of reliability for speed. Good chance they are still flying closer to the sun then Mercedes.

What you mean is "better for Max's season"

What would be better for the season would be for both Max and Lewis to have a DNF here and at the next race. That would bring three or four other drivers in to the mix and make for a bit more interest in the championship as a whole. The assumed top dogs then having to fight with their team mates and a driver or two from elsewhere too.

I am unaware of any time penalties being administered by FIA for holding up the pack. The kiss was a result of that.
The kiss was the result of a potentially unsafe release. Not that it matters now as it was two years ago.
No indeed, it happened two years ago. The coming race is about to happen. My remark was in that regard, I hope for the coming race those shenanigans will get penalized, and straight away.

Swift assessment of any infractions is to be welcomed, certainly.

Exactly, like the illegal overtake from Max on Lewis at Bahrein. By immediately taking action he could give it back and we still had a race on our hands. Much better then first finishing and then suddenly penalizing.

To me, 2 years ago, granted, they (FIA) should have immediately come on the radio when Bottas dropped the gap. It was abundantly clear what he was doing and in the end this killed max’ race. Yes they released him with high risk. But that was more or less forced by them not knowing if FIA would do anything, which they did not in the end.

Even better. Wouldn't be surprise Lewis and Max will go off together at one point this year.

Hmmm, I'm less sure now than I might have once been. I think Max will still try to be tough but Lewis is wise to him, and I think Max knows that Lewis will generally play the long game and avoid the risk of a collision. Perhaps if it's neck and neck in the last race or two, there may be more of a chance as then first place may be required to keep the title race open / decide it. Worth remembering the count back rule, of course. A firm closing of the door that took both out on equal points in the table would cause the internet to melt!

I think there is more risk of either of them having a coming together with the opponent's team mate, especially if the team mate has nothing to lose and either shuts the door or throws it up the inside in a situation where the other driver can't get out of the way in time.

I'm hoping that we have a clean fight throughout the season. DNFs, especially if they're caused by someone else, are not good ways to decide titles.

Max. The Red Bull gets the tyres in to the window quicker and I think it still has the edge of one lap pace over the Mercedes.

They were not forced into an unsafe release. It was a choice to either release a car into traffic or not, regardless of what had gone on in the lead up to the stop. I understand why they did it in the heat of the moment, but they absolutely did not have to and should not have done it so let's not try to justify it as a righteous response.
