Merc had the faster race car and they just threw it away on strategy.
Simple as that.
I disagree. They did not havd the fastest car at all. Perez pace and Max's pace says otherwise. Max mad a mistake and Lewis was just Lewis. He knows how to hunt down a leading car. I would say the Redbull was ever so slightly faster and the strategy made the difference.
You mean pace on far younger tyres?ringo wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:40I disagree. They did not havd the fastest car at all. Perez pace and Max's pace says otherwise. I disagree. Mercedes was the faster race car and also the best on tyres.godlameroso wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:40They banked on the one stop because it worked in Bahrain, but things have evolved. Mercedes lost this on strategy nothing else. The Red Bull has improved, it is now every bit a match for the Mercedes in the race.
Faster?
Mercedes 1 stop would have worked fine if the were the faster car.Restomaniac wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:41You mean pace on far younger tyres?ringo wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:40I disagree. NOPE THEY pitted bottas assuming he will overcome Ves and in case if emergency will act as buffer between hamilton and verstappen but redbull pit crew prevented that. This argument might be used as face saver in press but there is no face left for Toto to show, bottas showed him mirror today.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:38Which is why they pitted Bottas first rather than protect Hamilton's track position. Riiighht.
Exactly so. The Red Bull was the faster car and Red Bull played the strategy better. Simple really. Max drove brilliantly other than his turn one lapse. In fact the top four all drove really well.ringo wrote: ↑20 Jun 2021, 16:40I disagree. They did not havd the fastest car at all. Perez pace and Max's pace says otherwise. If merc had the faster car, the one stop strategy would have worked regardless of what redbull did.
