If only we could have Lewis and Max in the same car for a season so that all these "expert" discussions on who is extracting more from the car could end.
Sure, but at least we can compare Lewis and George directly in the 2022 season, so that will be a good battle. =D>
A 37 year old verus a strapping 23 year old? That's unfair!

Even Massa was close to 37 year old Schumi. Let's not even get into Vettel versus Kimi at 37.

He will be more than a pitstop behind after 20 laps easy
Since Perez is starting from pitlane maybe he can avoid chaos at the start. And maybe Alonso can block Hamilton long enough to help out Max 8)
with a laptime of not much over a min, he will not be far in front of Hamilton from 'GO'
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

I think this track has the potential to be a car eater; whether self inflicted or due to someone else’s fault.

I’m expecting a chaotic race tomorrow and the leaders aren’t immune to any of it.

This has the potential to be what short track / bull ring racing is to NASCAR.

Starting on the C1 hard tires >>> SC >>> everyone is into the pit >>> stay out and he will be in the front. 8)

Yes. Really that’s the sort of thing we witnessed at Mugello and Bahrain Outer last year. Imola always has the potential for chaos also.

It’s just a pity Pirelli have brought a tyre selection that’s too hard, probably.

Great Qualy session!

Anyone else literally have their heart in their mouth when we went onboard for T3?

2 Mercs vs Max is gonna be tricky for RB, even more so on a track where you can't overtake.

Mercs are usually ridiculous on tyre deg. I expect Max to pit and Lewis to go long with a Bottas roadblock at some point.

Can be bet on which drivers are gonna cause a red flag?

Mazepin, Tsunoda...

Be interesting to see Perez's strategy tomorrow!
T3 was hairy every single time I saw it from the onboard camera!

Great quali from GIO, fastest of them all in four minisectors =D>
This is no disrespect to Giovanazzi - I’m actually really pulling for him to do well and it was a great lap regardless - but just had a thought: did he take a new PU this weekend? Could he be using the new spec?

Schumi was around 3-4 tenths faster per lap both qualy and race.

Wind and sand are going to bring interesting effects to the race, and there certainly will be red flags, more than one for sure, which will completely neutralize the race. we'll probably have atleast 1 red flag resulting in a grid restart. I'm also predicting more than 1 safety car.

In other words, it's going to be a very trigger-responsive race and anything can happen. Strategy is going to be extremely hard to pinpoint. I also expect big tire wear and that helps in spreading out the field and lapped cars being in the way, and cars getting in traffic, further causing it near impossible to build a strategy.

With all these elements, we could see Perez actually win the GP in the end.

I would be inclined to say that Max would be wise to be 'tactic' this race and not push too hard and lose his car and as such a chance for the win, but Hamilton is steaming right in his ear and in the end, taking things 'calmer' are likely to not make much difference in the outcome due to the probable chaos this race will end up resulting in.

It's gonna be a very very interesting race. To be fair, i wouldn't exclude Ferrari from the win.

^ this. It’s an absolute fallacy that Massa was even remotely close to Michael that year.

Why don't they hug the inside curve into turn 3?

The cars have enough downforce that they don’t really have to.

Likely it might be too tight down there for the current F1 cars to even do it.

I would need to see incar from a fast driver in a low powered momentum car to see for sure.

edit: Yeah, the track rises at exit, so they can just drive it in and the car basically falls into the rising at exit.

Reminds me a bit of the Carousel.
