There is no silver bullet for the Silver Arrow.

They may as well wrap the car livery up with the Union Jack, and call it Team Tyrell since the difference is only in name. Much like the final 20 years of Tyrell, MGP is not a winner. They got lucky when their number was pulled in the Pirelli lotto.

I had a nice chuckle.

Alas JET, very, very few companies can justify running a Formula 1 team and certainly not a small division like AMG. Just look at the massive manufacturers who have pulled out as perfect examples. I'd love to see what these mythical fantasy numbers are..........
The massive companies fled due to achieving no results no matter how much money they threw at the cars.

Really...now that reminds me of one of this season's teams actually?

Yep, that's to be seen yet.

I guess you remeber that before the MS years the other massive company that's leading the WDC board this year had a very long dry spell.

It's to be seen if the love for racing of this massive company is really full restored and if they are up to endure the beating before they figure their way. Because they've bet the farm on an one trick pony and that trick is forbidden now.

Not that it's not possible, look at RBR. Who would guess that Stewart Grand Prix would go this far.

My god, is this F1technical?

Back in the real world, I wonder what MercAMGs victory meant to sales of AMG in china? I bet, of all the victories, China was most important. More AMGs will be sold there this year than the states, for the first time ever.
This does not excuse their current performance level. But it does put into perspective the absolute crass nature of the above posts...but then that's what the threads for right?

Of all the teams hurting, McLaren are hurting most. And the reason is obvious.

I wonder who is the dreamer? the bloke who thinks a single F1 victory is a the fuel for sles growth of AMG cars in China and the bloke who says its more indicative of the strength of China's emerging elite...

I think I've got RB's strategy now, first recruit the three kings, they will then find the messiah...in the shape of Mike Elliot?

Wonder if they will bring him gold, frankincense and myrrh as well, or perhaps the first will do?

Then a few weeks later, they will have to sacrifice Norby the Hutt for the greater good, when Dr. Z and the Daimler board decides to axe the entire MGP program.

On the third day, Autosport will announce how miraculously, Norby the Hutt has risen from the dead, and was seen walking around Surrey with Ron Dennis leading to rumors of how Norby will take his winning ways to McLaren in some capacity.

Ah yes, but don't you see, Dr. Z got conned into buying a worldbeater of a team by Norby the Hutt and Ross Brawn.

Perhaps the fine print when Ross became team principal for MGP should have included the need to provide upgrades to the various iterations of the W0x in a timely fashion, as opposed to when it doesn't actually matter any longer.

It's not anywhere near the same as Ferrari's troubles from 1980 to 1995. Ferrari did win races during that period, they just had rather stiff competition. 1991-1993 saw no race victories. Certainly they didn't build a very good car in those years, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Merc situation.

The messiah: "The one without guilt throws the first stone!"

Afterwhich a rock of considerable size hits RB in his head.

The messiah: "I wasn't talking to you Michael!"

You know that the basic ingredient for a good con is the mark's greed, right?

I think it's quite good actually.

And to think, I haven't even recreated the conversation between Ross and Michael, that got Michael out of retirement...yet.

Doesn't the saying go, that it is much harder for an honest man to be conned? Or something to that effect?

Don't get me wrong, Dr. Z and the Daimler board went looking for prestige in the wrong area altogether, so they certainly have some responsibility for making the decision.

Oh I don't know about that really, though it has done wonders to my stack of votes, however not in your league quite yet?

As for Norby's and RB's pitch to lure MS out of retirement, I'm working on it, but it sure begins with something like this;

"Hey MS, never getting weary of counting coins down there in Switzerland, ever miss the limelight?"
"I spent most of my money on wine and women...I wasted the rest"
