Renault, unreliable engine, but at least this year it is powerful.

With such a crap chassis being so fast compare to top teams

Well, it shows that while by default they are often slow and draggy at the high speed stuff, at least they can strip a lot of that off apparently!

Jesus Christ, it just gives me the chills. Do we know that he's alright?
He walked to the medical car unassisted which is what you want to see.

I'm amazed a marshal wasnt killed as that looked like a Marshall station he landed on or very close to.

I thought it was a collide with a car but no. It is fia's track limiter. They can do this with sensors or something different.

Sensors probably is too finicky and also, with it not being easy to see it triggered, expect a lot of fan outcry if that happens!

Woah. Apparently you lose 2 laps if wide in the last corner. Your current lap and the next lap because you get a bonus for by being straighter earlier. That could be costly in qualifying!
But, for now those kerbs are removed, and, with this rule in place for the weekend (lots of laps deleted for a lot of drivers in FP3 so they got some good practice of that), maybe we can see whether that's sufficient for Quali and the race (because there too the rule holds, ie. going wide before, or during the lap you set FLAP will cost you that point), and if so, perhaps that's enough for now, so many of the sausages can be benched again.

Remove the bitumen run-off area and put grass and gravel up to the track edge, problem solved!

In the last 10 min. of the FP3 we saw some impressive delta sector speeds, so:

SPD1: 323km/h VET, LEC; 322 RIC&VER!! Top: 325 PER
and just 316km/h HAM, 313 for BOT

SPD2: 342km/h VET, LEC and 338 RIC!
and just 332km/h for HAM, 329 for BOT

SPD3: 317km/h VET and LEC, 315 RIC, VER
and just 304km/h HAM, 303 for BOT

Seems that MER doesn`t wanna show their hand yet but also show us a higher than Ferrari, Renault and RB downforce setup choice in order to better preserve their particularly rear tyre in the race.

Had I were them I should do a 2 stop S-M-S strategy in the race for at least 3 reasons:

1. firstly and the foremost: not to get stuck behind a faster Ferrari, as they were in Spa!
2. just to display their entire pace for longer in the race, coz my opinion that was the main reason why they lost in Spa ...
3. even though in Spa they had some 0.5 sec. per lap advantage in the race, I personally don`t see too accurate F1.com analysis showing they are just 1 tenth ahead of Ferrari coz I just saw (yesterday in the race sim laps toward the end of FP2) how easily Lewis on 7 laps older medium tyres being 4-5 tenths quicker when he was following Seb, which was on 7 laps fresher soft tyre ...

Is Mercedes gambling on a rain Sunday race?

Their car is more draggy and have more downforce

If it rains I think they will dominate indeed

They don't need to. Ferrari has to go for the very low downforce, because (in relevance to Mercedes and RedBull) their downforce comes with too much drag. Normal dry weather setup from Mercedes should work better in the rain than Ferrari's.

Referencing the F3 crash. It looked to me that the T tray caught under the curb, and folded down and snapped causing the launch. Glad he's alright.

FIA imposing MINIMUM speeds in qualifying. That’s gunna cause teams problems!

so vettel was 0.15s ahead of P1 after S2 just before red flag. Loads of time still left on the table.

Vettel went out on softs at the end of Q1 and then directly in the pits. What's the point of wasting set of softs? Probably will do 2 runs in Q2?
