I think the idea they had with pirelli and their tires came from back in the 90s when there wasnt a speed limit in the pits.
So now if you want to risk a 2 stopper the soft should be so much quicker then the harder to make it feasable and that is never going to happen if you have a 20s to 30s pitstop.
Also they have shortened most tracks to be like gokart tracks so everyone will always just go for a one stop because the rules state you need to run the 2 compounds.
I think without that rule teams like williams and such would just start on hard and finish the race.

We will see Wass85

As for this weekend, If Bottas doesn't get within a couple of tenths of Lewis, you will look a little bit silly.

Yep we will see. If Hamilton beats Bottas by 5 tenths then I will eat my hat, there's nothing between them in qualifying and to get gaps like that something is not right for the trailing driver.

So suddenly practice does matter and what happens on the 2020 tyres is representative.
I can’t decide if it’s numerous people using this account or if your using a magic 8 ball for your answers
You are basically implying the same but the opposite way around.

So according to you the practice lap does matter and the tyre test doesn't?

Hamilton has got the title in the bag, calm down and let's appreciate what will be an epic IMO.
Yes because that actually makes sense.
2019 car + 2019 tyres + actual track we are racing on = real results.
A random test of 2020 tyres + 2019 car = suck it and see.
See above, I'm happy to have a little wager.

The question is will Max split the Mercedes pair in qualifying?

Ok then if it’s 5/10ths I’ll let you eat your hat.

Offering to eat your hat isn’t a wager and that is all you’ve mentioned. :wtf:

Anyway I’m done with this.

Thought so.

Same here, don't worry I love Lewis but if I'm being honest I'm disappointed with his qualifying performance this season.

Oh it’s suddenly practice now? What about the 2020 tyres
You would think that seeing as though the teams will need all the data they can gather for the new tyres then yesterday was a representative run on them.
Yeah they need as much data as possible, everyone would see and agree to that. So if thats the case, why would you run 2 cars on the same fuel.... why not run 1 heavier to get some different data ect.

Just a thought
This is my take too. Even if Bottas is/was faster on those tyres he's not as much faster as the numbers suggested.

The point is that they're test tyres and we have no idea what testing they were doing. For sure it would have been stupid to squander a test by getting your two drivers to just go out and race each other.

The times seem too close to suggest they were running different fuel loads though. I think Lewis eventually got the gap down to just under 3 tenths if I'm not mistaken?

Oh, we might as well give Bottas the 2020 trophy now then.

I don't know if some of you missed this or what. For a substantial amount of time when Lewis was on track with the 2020 tires he had an aero rig aross the entire back of the car.

Yeah I saw that, didn't Bottas have the same though at first?

I don't think any driver praised the new tyres, great job Pirelli.
