If they sky team based that on Lewis' pass on 3 midfield cars, then I that's really a stupid comment even stupider to belive that.

So the explanation is that SKY commentators made a false comment!

This was a wet race.

Lewis was overtaking these cars on the straight with no DRS, and Norris and Stroll have Mercedes engines as well...

In a wet race, imo I see most cars overtaking someone else by getting the edge on braking into and out of a corner, not by passing them on the straight, because DRS is not activated...

We are getting off topic...if u want we will discuss in Turkey race thread..otherwise we are in trouble
but there are other forces like tyres, new engine for Lewis, Slipstream and pure skill and how u put the power on a wet track! He could only do it once the midfield teams have shot their tyres. (as merc generally has better tyre wear than the midfield teams)
Lewis passed 3 cars on a wet dry track with a vastly superior car... man is it that hard to comprehend?

This, plus the fact that the rear squatting would pay huge dividends at this track!

Explain why SKY commentators said what they said about Merc looking like it had DRS during the race
It’s an analogy. The end.

On a side note, I remember when RBR and some of their loyal fans were convinced Merc were up to PU trickery. The PU was the cause of the speed! A magic intake! Launched an inquiry with the FIA.

Bottas’ PU was twice disassembled and examined by the FIA. Verdict? All clear. Case closed.

Now RBR are convinced it’s the wing. I think the “score marks” are the only thing they have to go on, and those have 2 much more believable/plausible explanations already.

Don’t forget with Turkey it was a massively grippier re-surfacing that the Merc loved - we will see the same again in Abu Dhabi (11 seconds a lap faster relaid track this year). Tyres are so key and we saw Merc annihilated in dusty Mexico and will see it evenly matched on this smooth, flat Qatar circuit.

Anyone got long run data from Friday?

Could be a broken part as suggested on f1tv and filmed while the broken or wear-out or out-of-spec part was investigated and visible. I can recommend to watch it. Like the loose screws on Lewis’ rearwing last week it will not bring any benefit but most likely will harm performance. Unlike Lewis’ rearwing last week, when failing it still meets regulations. Consider it a design flaw caused by wrong assumptions on straightline speed and downforce levels. Unexpected that they have not found a solution to fix it yet.

Toto saying there will be no new updates since when? It must be all setup related then?

That the ICE was investigated and nothing found does not mean they did not do something very clever. Power output is a secret so no way to check if anything changed in performance. Same for aero, that nothing is found does not mean nothing is happening.

Interesting to hear Toto say yesterday that everything is so in the open that trickery cannot be hidden as proof that their car is legal. The very opposite is true. Everything in f1 is secret and hidden. So following his reasoning their car must be illegal.

Love this sport, don’t we? Mclaren fan by the way.

Indeed. And the same with RB fluttering wing, that will only harm performance. It is not about keeping the other team busy than that anything will come from this.

RB are ticking off things one by one. Mercedes are looking like Ferrari in 2019, a sudden unexplainable increase of speed which has put 14K on RB in mexico and 27K on RB in Brazil. If RB weren't asking questions, they wouldn't be doing their job.

Not even remotely comparable.

It's fine to ask questions but who is going to answer those. It does look like they have no idea what is going on. Saying things like "If you beat us here we will protest" is just stupid.
