I'd say it looks like a good solid base to start the 2010 season, its got the brawn diffuser. There's a lot of development potential, once they see the other teams cars they can get better ideas but they've taken everything from this years cars...

I doubt very much they'll be front runners in 2010, probably lower mid pack with the rest of the n00bies.

Well the fact that it looks like a BGP001 diffuser doesn't mean it works just as well  They may turn up with all the 'right-looking' bits and then end up playing a lot of paintball like McLaren did in 2009.

I am impressed with their progress. I hope that they're going to be mid pack.

In the other video of an old green Lotus F1 car racing around their track; what is that mystery car following behind it?

I see a Brawn-esque front wing with some BMW like endplates. And a "snowplough"... looking good i guess :P. Hope they live up to their name next year. Loved the video ^^

It looks good compared to this year cars, but they have to find something extra to be competitive in next year.

Why do they measure the car while it's in the windtunnel?

To check everything is sitting in the right place! Wind tunnel models can be incredibly sensitive, hence if something is sitting out of place it can mess up the results you see. The teams are looking for such small incremental gains that the model has to be built (and maintained) at high levels of accuracy so that these gains can be reliably evaluated.

I presume they have high level formula to convert the data into full size effect.
I found it almost impossible finding any comparative scale dimensions with the same effect as full size, on the aerodynamic surfaces of model scale model aircraft I have built over the years.

Hmmm

Was that some type of a laser guiding device in the technician's hand?

Could it be that he was mapping the wind tunnel data onto the model on the computer for comaparison?

I'm guessing here, but i suspect that they are more positioning the model in the tunnel as well as setting up the model.

Oh and "the old green car" is a 25 the first Formula 1 car to utilize monocoque construction. (Said in my best John Major adenoidal voice.)
Murray: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool."
James: "Well, that should put them out then."

Beautiful. Just love the suspension travel as it takes those kerbs, while the body remains dead level. We certainly don't see that anymore with the stiff (to point of fixed) suspension.

I too thought the new EPs took inspiration from Brawn, as does the diffuser. I didn’t see a β€˜snow plough’ though , just the pair of small vanes under the chassis. Where are you seeing that?

Question; Why do the Brits despise this new Lotus team? I have read numerous times where Bits pass the team off as some hopeless imitator or as an unrelated spin off with just a licensed name. They look like the real deal to me. They have the name, the cars the technology, they own the company it self. What more do they have to do before they are accepted?

Myself not being British, here's a wild guess:

because that is actually so.
