It might have something to do with the fact that the Spanish economy is tanking and 5 million unemployed. Its not great pr if the public asks why these companies aren't investing in jobs.

Its also a pitty that companies like Repsol, Mapfre and MuttaMadrilina cand even drop Hispania a deal for €10m a season. Even if the perform crap, they will get their logos on TV at least half a dozen times a race when getting lapped by the front guys. Or dare i say for longer if they have a accedent or technichal retirement.
Just what I said before: in Spain there are some big companies. Maybe they do not have to invest 10 million. Just 5 or 6 from Repsol, 5 or 6 from BBVA, 5 or 6 from Telefonica... but it is a shame that here in Spain it is just Alonso, Alonso and, after all, more Alonso.

De la Rosa has, as personal sponsor, El Corte Ingles. Maybe they can put some money.

Yes I can't wait for F1 to kick off again next week! I think sooner or later HRT will get a big Sponsor they just need to show stability, keep to their plans and be honest and open with their fans. Yes the economy in Spain is bad but there are multinational companies in Spain with influence abroad. So I think it will be a very good idea for the team to sign a young driver from Latin America or any of the emerging economies. Like what they have been doing over the past few years.

Finally, Karthikeyan gets the second seat at HRT. Hope he brings good money, because in terms of speed...

Wow what a great choise by HRT. This is simply laughable, they pick De La rosa for development work, but both are dead slow so there is barely any improvement possible. Definately the backmarkers next year, by far.

Silverstone. The team have previpous replacing drivers there. Yamamotto replaced Sennna there, and Riccardo replaced the man who is spending a second year at Hispania.

I also belive he has managed to secure more than one sponsor for the year, id recon that Hero Motors will also be allong for the ride as well as TATA and one or two smaller Indian companies.

Its intresting that TATA have reduced their comitment from €21m last year to just €8m this. Makes me wonder if he is fully funded, considering that Hispania got €2m before any racing from TATA and €500,000 for Karthekeyns Qualification and €500.000 for a race finish. For the 9 races he raced in, he only got the team €4.5m on top of that initial €2m, hence why he was dropped for a straight €10m from Red Bull for Riccardo for 10 races, whitch turned into 11 as Liuzzi didnt race in India as he was racing in Aussie V8s just days previously, and Red Bull decided to stump up an additional €2m for that race for Riccardo.

I have a feeling that Hispania could announce Jan Charuz as their Development driver getting a FP1 ride when ever he isnt doing GP2 that weekend as well, as Charuz has a sizeable budget, but needs time in F1 tech in order to be able to graduate next year. He brought an additional €800,000 to Hispania last year at the Young Driver Tests and the seat in FP1 at Brazil. In theory, he could bring another €4m for development work. WHitch id give him the following sessions:

Jerez: Half Day
Barcelona #1: Half Day
Barcelona #2: Half Day
Mugello: Full Day
FP1: AUS, CHI, CAN, JAP, ROK, IND, ABD, BRA (All in Narains car)
Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test: Full Day

If this was to give him 3,000Km and give him what he needs to jump from GP2 into F1. And would be €4m well spent for him and his sponsors. However he would need up to an additional €4m on top for his GP2 yearly budget as well.

The test are for the drivers to try to develop the car no for the third one to get some money. (And i repeat again, it is HRT (No Colles, no the old staff), so should be different than Hispania Racing Team

Well if it isnt for the money why sign Karthikeyan who probably had the largest budget of them all? I'm sorry but get those HRT glasses off. They claim their great ambitions, with great new factories and such, but cant even make up a decent driver line up. I had little faith in HRT already, it is fully lost now.

What is people's problem. Williams signs 2 Pay Drivers in Maldonando & Senna both bitter failures anyway. No1 bitches about Williams. Come on mates aint fair. HRT is a small team & needs atleast 1 Pay driver.

Hell Pic at Marussia got the seat even before last season ended with all his money.

So, you are surprised because HRT have signed a pay-driver... that must have shocked you. HRT must be the first team in history to sign a driver because he brings good money. It is not like Maldonado, or Senna, or Pic, or Petrov, or...

And, even if you say everyday that De la Rosa is not a good driver, the reality is that De la Rosa is a great driver.

Id Expect Jan Charus to be at the team as a development driver for 2012. Bringing the team money for the priveledge. Gravity Management want him to make a step up, as well as get a F1 development drive. He was impressive at the young driver test, as well as the fact he looked as if he had some speed in FP1 at Brazil.

Karthekeyns budget will have to be subsidised with another drives some where else, id recon PdlR is probably being paid a small and decent retainer, probably €1m a season. But Hispania, unless they have half a dozen sponsors bringing €20m outside the money Karthekeyn is bringing in and wont need a subsidy. I recon a small figure of up to €4m a season for a Test/Development guy will be a good enough investment for a guy like Charuz.

Williams are putting in Bottas for 15 FP1s (AUS, MON, CAN, ITA & USA probably being exempted) and id recon that Bianchi will be teaming a GP2 season with 9 FP1 drives for Force India. Id recon the same drives as ive posted above.

There is a area that small teams can exploit budget out of young guys to get the team better funded. If you were a team boss and a young guy like Charuz came allong and offered €4m for the potential distance i posted above, most of the lower teams would take it and be happy.

I don't think people are surprised its only disappointment from fans that this year already looks like another year of HRT just surviving rather then progressing.HRT needs all the money they can get and pay drivers are the only way. I think HRT will have to give a young fast talented driver a drive at one of the tests to get a good idea how the f112 performs.
