Merc party mode incoming in 3 2 1....
You’re more than 1.5 years late to pretend that it’s the party mode giving Mercedes the edge. Despite they didn’t get the edge this time, of course.

Someone here said that Bottas has a poor race pace or tyre management ... For me, this is the case of switching his race setup more toward the qualy and Lewis has a more mature approach and he works more towards the race, don`t you think?

Particularly on the qualy Q3 lap, it seems that Lewis was always almost 2 tenths slower than both Bottas and Max ... probably some understeer setup in order to have better rear tyre management in the race? Will find the answer tomorrow ...
Let's see how this is gonna work out when Max is going to disappear into distance :D

Amazing how short Lewis' answers in interviews are when he's not first.

I got the feeling that he's beginning to feel a bit of pressure from Verstappen and considering the fact that Max is managing to ruffle feathers driving the car he's driving compared to Hamilton is testimony to the serious talent that he is. A win tomorrow and a DNF for Hamilton will blow this championship open again.. a thought I buried after Baku.

I'm interested to see why Ferrari saved an extra set of the Soft tyres, maybe trying Medium to Soft in the race while others go Medium Hard, tomorrow is a complete unknown so knows. Congrats to Leclerc too for continuing his strong qualifying form and bouncing back for Germany.

I'm pretty sure that is the standard, advisable behaviour when you haven't come first. It's silly to open one's mouth when you aren't topping.

People find anything and everything with Lewis, eh.

Literally bouncing back on the track.

Anyone see Hamilton didn’t have DRS on pit straight?

Top 5 all strung their personal best sectors together, so noone dropped the ball in the top 5. So fully deserved pole.
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

Congratulations to Max for his first pole!

Mercedes was considered clear favorites on this track, also before they introduced their big upgrade package which reportedly worked. Even more amazing that they lost today.
That was a stellar lap from Max. The Red Bull seems to start working more and more, but I’m sure Verstappen’s skills played a big role in addition to that.

Grojean, Old aero beats mags new aero.
From what Magnussen said, new aero was beat by fragility to temp changes, which gave win to the old one by default. Still, old one clearly more dependable.

last week he said it doesn't work when it's hot. Now that it was not hot, he finds a new excuse and says it doesn't work when the temperature changes... maybe in the end it's more down to a lack of ability to properly set up the car?!

I don't know what's the original source, but a couple of days ago l'Équipe reported that Grosjean gave the team a lot of good input to improve the old package, while nothing came from Magnussen so far.

The new-aero car worked better here while it was a bit warmer, but they lost the tyre window when it started cooling off after Q1 - they just have a narrow window on that new car, so even if they are in it at the start, a small change might mean they lose that window then. Not sure how that's an excuse; though it might also be true that when his car works, Grosjean is just a lot faster than him.
