- What? No, it was Merc drivers playing games that almost cost them a pole :-), If only Ferrari had, what is his name... ;-)
- Massa faster than Bottas again
- Lotus is keeping a record of getting every single wet qualifying wrong, they have f. wets you know it's intermediates times

Ha

People like you make me laugh. Pathetically trying to grab hold of any small hope.

SV had a good lap. LH on a test lap was faster. He was already faster on the lap NR spoilt, so had they had proper runs expect at least .5 ahead for merc.

In the race, wet or dry it will be over a second a lap....if and when it's needed. You don't want to win by too much, it causes hassle.

Yea he was. Right on the racing line to the point Hamilton had to overtake on the inside of Rosberg to get by.

If they weren't on the same teams I have no doubt that Nico would have been punished for the "block"

Except the fact that Hamilton's pole time came at a time when conditions were much worse, I think Rosberg had a scruffy one. Mercedes has the best chassis.
I agree. Sky showed side by side comparison just now between vettel and hamilton. Difference in track conditions was significant. Merc is quite clearly the best car. Still, Vettel could turn out difficult to overtake for rosberg if he doesn't jump him at the start. Ferrari is definitely faster on the straights.

When asked about it in the press conference Hamilton very diplomatically replied " I don't remember."

I doubt he even watched Qualifying.

Because the first run everyone did Mercedes was over 2 seconds faster then Ferrari (think it was even 3 seconds)
That single lap was good enough for pole despite the track having almost 10 minutes to clear up water.

What does this mean for Nico? All weekend, Ferraris have been similar on S1, slower in S2 and quicker in S3 compared to Merc. Nico will have his hands full with Vettel.

There's absolutely no reason to think merc has a one sec per lap advantage over Ferrari here - absolutely no evidence.

What we've see in quali is:

- Vettel only .5 slower in Q1 but on the hards vs. mediums
- Vettel only .25 slower on same tyres in Q2
- Vettel only .07 slower in wet

What we saw in practice was an initially .3 slower Ferrari which switched to .3 or so faster by the end of the stint.

I *suspect* Merc have a little more pace than the above indicates, but based on what we've seen so far it's actually very very close.

He definitely hampered Hamilton's lap (worth of a penalty maybe?).

It was a weird session with few people improving in the dying seconds (ROS did improve but not nearly enough), i actually thought Vettel went too soon starting his lap with 1:30 +/-

Vettel? Because you only see Ferrari showing this kind of evolution when a certain someone was kicked out, purely coincidence, obviously, right?

The Ferrari was quicker than the Merc only in the last sector. That sector has the long straight on it and only 3-4 corners. In the "twisty" second sector the Mercedes was quicker by 4 tenths. Also slightly quicker in the first sector which has the slow T1-2 complex. The implication from that, along with comments from Massa about the Williams losing the top speed advantage over Ferrari, is that the Ferrari has found a chunk of high speed performance but not quite as much in the lower speed stuff. Or, to put it another way, the Mercedes has a better chassis.

Anyway, it's good to see a Vettel fan happy for once, after his dismal year last year.

In my opinion Rosberg has completely lost the plot and is starting to look a little silly. Such an obvious attempt to slow with Hamilton purple behind while Rosberg is not on a quick lap, asking about lines  and trying to tag on the back of Hamilton to show him the way round!! Is this F1 or kindergarten. That briefing is going to be quite interesting. Such body language in the press conference. Hamilton's words basically said "he tried to screw me but it didn't work".
