I loved the 80’s. Bizarre power, huge turbolags, no tyre heaters. These guys were spending half of the time hanging on to their machines. Fishtailing over the straights.
Current cars are impressive. But I find it refreshing to see the drivers being presented with issues that cannot be solved by a bit of diff magic here, or a engine setting there. It’s been a while that I have seen such seat of the pants driving.
The low grip asphalt I can dig. Low grip seems to be an equalizer that brings out talent. The tires I am less pleased about. It seems to be nearly impossible to get the cars to work with the range of tires. And some teams cannot get any to work. That is not good.
