True. We know the RB's are gentle on their tyres, so going long and getting position will be good.

But all of Pirelli's predictions are off by 10-15laps usually.

How is it that Perez wasn’t penalized for the blue flag pass on Stroll? The blue flag is to let the car lapping you pass, seems Perez took advantage of Stroll slowing to let Verstappen pass. I know the stewards said there was no investigation necessary since Perez “gave the position back”, but Perez had no intention of giving that position back. Stroll “took” it back because Perez crashed into the back of Magnussen. Seems a bit odd.

As for what Perez did with the blue flags situation.. it happens often and is not penalized. It is sneaky and against the spirit of the rule, just like predicting the end of a VSC like Russell did at France 2022 on Perez, but there is not a rule against it.

Actually quite a decent race in Monaco, because of the rain.

The reshuffle of the grid due to the different nature of the track wasn't that large. I see AM and Renault more up in the order, and that's it.

Regarding GR, I didn’t even realized (until the end) that Russell lost the podium by making a mistake in Mirabeau!

I really wonder if he cracked under pressure or if his explanation is true !

When was the last time Alonso made a dumb move on lap 1?

It might not be Alonso making a dumb move. A dumb bit of defending could bring the same outcome. Or even someone from behind "doing a Bottas".

All through the years that I have watched F1, I have never seen a harakiri move by any of the top 3 or 4 drivers at Monaco with such a short run to the first corner and a run off to right to help. Usually, drivers accept the fate on Saturday. It's only midfield and backmarkers that are a bit overzealous. 2022 and 23 batches seems to be most well behaved grids for an opening lap in my memory.

Another instance of well behaved opening lap from the grid. May be the pressure of cost cap is working after all. Drivers probably have been told to behave and keep the car in one piece.
