This something that only Scarbs could tell
The oil cooler is on the left, requiring an extra bit of cooling.

Data logging systems are usually closely packaged around the engine or gearbox to reduce cables.

Tomba’s right the more open sidepod\chimney is for the oil cooler, which is placed on only one side of the car. However the SECU and other large black boxes tend to be in the front of the sidepod. They are placed between the floor and the internal ducting from the sidepod inlet to the rad. Often the finned heatsink from the ECU is exposed inside the ducting, or a duct takes flow from the duct down to the ECU. There are some electronics inside the cockpit which sit along side the drivers hips (the monocoque is surprisingly wide at this point). Lastly the crash logger sits behind the seat or under the roll hoop. The stuff around the engie and gearbox although looking like ECUs (i.e. metal or carbon box with CAN connectors, wiring etc) tends to be wiring loom junction boxes or hydraulic valve blocks.

Is it me, or are the Monaco and Montreal wings identical? I cant spot any difference except the roundness of the top of the endplates, but that may be an illusion caused by the angle...

Seems same to me too!
That often comes to my mind when comparing present cars from cars from early/mid 90's - back when it was easy to tell what track type car setup is it, while today apart from some additional small details seems no difference at all (except form Monza).
I wonder how teams accomodate this difference between the tracks, however front end stability is paramount on both tracks. I remember from GP4 helper that front wing doesn't add much to the drag so if you able to control aero bias you can ran agressive front wing even in low-downforce configuraions.

R27 in 2007 had a completely different front wing (for lower levels of downforce) for Canada compared to the one used for Monaco .

R28 , on the contrary , used a front wing for higher levels of downforce for Canada ( :?: ) , which was very similar to the Monaco version

here is a comparison between R28's - R27's Canada and Monaco FW versions
