Is it usual to do a (practice) start in 2nd gear on inters? Max did it today in FP2.

yes it is, this is to prefend to much wheelspin at the start, and maybe he was testing if he had less wheelspin in 2nd gear, i even remember a start he made in 2nd gear aswell (must been 2017, don't know which race anymore but could been silverstone, or Brasil 2016)

In Singapore in 2017 Hamilton definitely started in second gear, I believe Max did, Alonso maybe, and then a few guys started in 1st gear. IIRC there wasn't a direct correlation though, as in some people started in 1st and got decent starts and some in 2nd with poor starts. i think most of the best starters were in 2nd though.

If the qualifaction session would be in dry conditions ,the team should seriuosly think about giving Max toe in Q3 by sacrificing Pierre in S1.
If the team find 2 or 3 tenth in S1 , Pole position will be secured for Max for sure.
Good luck for the team , Max and Pierre.

Looking good on FP3. Max made a mistake on S1, and even with that are on pace with the Mercs. We can split the Mercedes if we have a clean Q lap =D>

Lec was trying to screw him over in his outlap. In an FP. Strong dislike.

Yeah, I saw him on the last turns making some strange moves behind Max... He needs to move along from the past battles and focus on himself...

They failed to do that tactic in Germany and it cost them. Lets see if someone things of it now.

Max went better on s1 on his second lap but did not complete it. Ferrari are in it as well with their mighty s1 time. Will come down to the party modes, which I think RBR is on the back foot. Gasly is too far behind, he needs to get it together.

But Ferrari loses all the gap on the S2. I think they are a bit behind us and Mercedes. But we will se soon...

In Hockenheim there were a lot of straights that it was too hard to get a toe without losing time at the corners of S2 there.
But now RB has a real chance for pole position . Once Mercedes unleash their boost in Q3 it would be difficult to match them in S1 .. S2 and S3 we all close.
Let's hope for the first Poleposition for Honda with RB ,or at least first row.

A tow by Pierre on his possible first pole would be a PR disaster. Don’t do it.
