Its difficult to understand how those small differences count up to 1s difference. Most of it is turn 11 and 8. I can understand why we are much slower in turn 11 but why in turn 8? And 7km down in drs2 whereas he was marginally faster in drs2. Maybe he made a mistake there.

Lets for a good race today.

Very happy for McLaren, this was pure genuine pace, they were over 2 seconds off the pace last year, and have closed that gap to within a second. If they keep this trajectory and keep chipping away they'll be back to being the McLaren we remember in the 90's and 2000's.

2018 vs 2019 is a 3.558 improvement...

The RedBull can carry more speed to the corners but the Mclaren gains so much on the strait's.

Did you notice on second 30 that max was all 4 wheels out of the track?

It seems we did pitted early... The lap times were good compared to RIC and GAS and we could have probably left it out for a few more laps and extend the lead to them

Sainz pace doesn’t seem great right now, I don’t know if they are just protecting the tires and saving fuel for the end of the race.

At the end, we are fighting Renault and Gasly, so as long as they maintain that gap, the race is still good for the team.
