Downforce of components question

Post

I've been doing some very rough figuring on lift coefficients. Can anyone tell me if my estimates are out of whack or are they reasonable.

My calculations are based upon my knowledge of a champ car's TOTAL downforce only, and not the individual components' forces. I calculated that a Lola's front wing contributes about 23% of the car's total downforce, rear wing 31%, and the diffuser/underwing 46%. Do these seem like reasonable ratio of each component's downforces?

Also, does anyone know what approximate percentages these components produce in an F1? Just curious.

Thanks

Well knowing that a Champ car diffuser is bigger then a F1s....I think that the numbers you figured out sound quite good....

Conserning a F1 car the values seem to be close to what you figured out....but the diffuser doesn't have such a high percentage.....and with the new rules...probably it lost a little more....

Thanks Monstrobolaxa, much appreciated.

Now I see why people were saying that the new F1 rule regarding the diffuser would have a big impact.
