Let's see how Qatar goes, Toyota and particularly Ferrari have been absolutely hammered with BoP this round.

Compared to the season ending race in Bahrain, Ferrari is at the same weight, but lost 2 kw of power.

Toyota gained 9kg of weight and lost 4kw of power. Porsche gained 2kg of weight, and lost 9kw of power.
Alpine is starting at 1070kg and they are an LMDH car. None of the LMDh cars from last year are running over 1050kg this year except Alpine.

There's no trophy for building an LMH car over an LMDh car. Relatively speaking Ferrari is well off in the BOP table. If they sorted their tire wear, they wouldn't drop so far back in the races. Toyota is heavier than them and still has better tire wear last year.

So yeah, Ferrari is particularly impacted with the worst power to weight ratio of the class.

So yeah, Ferrari is particularly impacted with the worst power to weight ratio of the class.
The only cars that the Ferrari is truly being measured against is the Toyota and the Puegeot, the two other manufacturer LMH cars built to the higher performing LMH ruleset.

The LMDh cars are slower by design, and thus require more generous BOP by design. This is a feature that was agreed to by all.

From there the difference between Ferrari and toyota is insignificant yet Toyota has a big advantage on the track. Puegeot is an outlier because it's concept is unlike the traditional LMH cars.

Great storylines to follow. The 4 newbies BMW, Alpine, Lamborghini and Isotta Fraschini. I wonder if there is coverage of the prologue in Qatar this Monday & Tuesday? With currently 9 manufacturers and a 10th arriving next year WEC is far more interesting than F1.

Two new hypercar/lmdh entrants with BMW and Alpine. Other than those the other entrants for those classes seem to have not changed at all. Was this by decree or a reflection of budgets? Something else? LMP1 had noticable aero changes year to year.

Unsurprisingly when you give a car that much power to weight advantage, they start to be competitive. BoP seems alright except for Peugeot which is comically underweight.

How come they aren’t measuring the race distance by hours??

They used to have 6hrs races! Why 1812km exactly? 😂

Peugeot is too much of a dog of a car to win even with the massive BoP advantage, but I have to revisit what I said about BoP being alright, that the racing order looked so correlated to the BoP looks very sus, at least to my eyes.

Yes it seems they gave Porsches a bit more of an advantage than they should have! But at least it was competitive! 35 seconds after over 8 hours of racing isn’t that much if you consider that other championships end up with the same gap after only 1,5 hours of racing… :lol:

Yeah, I'm with you. F1 needs to do something or WEC is coming for their lunch money.

How much did Porsche pressure around to get that BoP :lol: :lol: :lol: Ferrari and Toyota absolutely must do something about that ridiculous BoP. Hopefully FIA does all teams justice and the two actually best cars get to scrap again for the win in Le Mans at least

Fact : The two teams that were struggling last year Peugeot and Porsche are suddenly at the front. Porsche sweep the podium and Peugeot nearly finished 2nd. The cars are identical to last year. If it wasnt the BoP that favoured their performance then it must be devine intervention. The commentators saying how hard Porsche & Peugeot worked during the winter break is hogwash. The two teams that were contesting victories last year namely Toyota & Ferrari were suddenly struggling and having problems getting into the top ten. This series claims to level the performance of its participants but is in fact manipulating the results.
