How long before a convergence of design?

Post

Hey all. Just wondering here. How long does it usually take designs to converge to 1 best form factor after massive rule changes (such as 2008-2009). We could see that in 2008 people had pretty much zeroed in on the same ideas and everything was just minor differences. How long, historically, has it been on average to zero in on the same designs? How long do you think they'll start to converge on the same designs? While in 2010 the cars are a lot more similar to each other than they were last year, there's still quite a bit of disparity. How long do you think they'll start looking a lot more like each other?

I would say around 5 years. We havent really seen much before the 09 rule change because the cars would look like copy pasta of something some other car had the previous race. We are still seeing that today but with a couple of loopholes out there they allow for some mow tinkering that not everyone knows of.
