just checked again, Alonso lost 3 tenths to Verstappen the lap before in sector 3 indeed, despite setting a purple segment as well. So you're probably right.

Would have been 2nd if the red flag came out a bit later, and Norris probably 3rd. But that's about it.
He was on a lap that would've put him in 3rd ?

Norris was 1 1/2 tenths behind Hülkenberg after S2, who had a fairly poor final sector. So probably somewhere around his time

How's the weather look for tomorrow?
Dry 😎thank god
More like unfortunately. I was hoping for an amusing race with lots of wet/dry tire changes.
Myself and 150000 other people who were thoroughly soaked the last 2 days respectfully disagree

Isn't the Mclaren very slow on the straights? Whereas the Haas is a bit of a rocketship?

can't say for sure of course, but Norris was quicker in S3 the lap before, and said that his lap would have been good enough for 2nd (disregarding Alonso's potential improvement, I guess) so I would assume he was on track to beat Hülkenberg.

Could be troublesome for Mercedes and Ferrari if that is indeed the right strategy.

Mediums will be fine. Pirelli is usually off the mark.

M-H-M or M-H will probably be the order of the day without Safety cars.

Yet somehow Red Bull saw value in keeping 2 sets of hard, although they are the best on tire wear. Makes me wonder.

RB also have two sets of mediums. I think it's just a coincidence. FP1 was interrupted. At least a half hour was never recovered.

Maybe they haven't used the "hard" because they don't think it's going to useful. If you have decent tyre wear characteristics, running the "medium" and "soft" might be a possible, and faster, option.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
