Ferrari SF23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Seems today Leclerc has it on the car!

Floor edge looks similar to before with some minor tweaks

When he writes in the image comparisons "Singapore" he means "Suzuka". The images labelled as Singapore are the new spec

Ferrari has always brought 2 new parts for the cars whenever they upgraded. If this floor has been in the works forever and was tested over 1 month ago in Fiorano then they will have one for each at minimum, plus spares.

This was tested in Fiorano ? When ? During tire test ?

Filming day a month ago I think. You can’t test new parts on tire test days afaik.

All the changes other than the fences and edge are hard to spot which means I'm pretty dissapointed. I would've liked to see a much bigger floor overhaul.

How does McLaren pump out upgrades at such a rate?

Hard to say what they've done with tunnels, but diffuser is supposedly reworked as well. Diffuser, fences and the change at the floor edge is in the critical area controlling tyre squirt. So they are working on this problem actively

I think it comes down to McLaren launching their car essentially unchanged since 2022 Singapore. So the first raft of changes at Austria was essentially them spending on their launch spec. And then Singapore was their big upgrade package

Diffuser sidewalls should be changed too:

The diffuser narrows more compared to the old one (don't look at the yellow arrows in 1st pic).
I think this is the change in "diffuser sidewalls":

The winglet on the floor edge is different too (don't look at the yellow arrows):
