McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Completely agree. Very sad indeed.

Thing is, if they painted the protrusion black, then it would look so much better...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'd prefer a proper nose to this farce; it's just tragic. I hope the update is worth a few tenths; that will at least make it more bearable.

So many super close up detailed shots of everything in the car we say dozens of times already, but STILL we do not know the true shape of the goddam butterfly suspension. Photographers these days...

:?

What are you expecting, some photographer to jump in with a hacksaw, chop the hub end off the arm and get a photo?
Because if not, there's a great big bloody upright in the way.

disappointed with mclaren's performance this week......ron the baldman dennis' s claim that they bought in 0.5secs for this weekend is true indeed....problem is, rbr, ferrari and a few others found an additional 0.9 to 1.2 secs with em this week. :(

Speaking of which, they don't appear to be a magic bullet giving them masses of rear end grip over the other teams. Well, if they are working well that would mean the rest of the car is suspect.

I was expecting more from McLaren and on a track they themselves said would suit them better than Melbourne they were at best average.

It's funny, I'm not denying that you heard them say that sepang would suit them more than Albert park but Button said mid weekend that they are weak in high speed corners.... Errrr there's a lot of high speed corners in sepang as you well know.
Did they only realise this after FP1 and 2? Lol

I noticed the McLarens were quite high on the fuel usage during the race whilst the other Mercedes powered cars were doing very well. Butterfly suspension related perhaps?

Well Button suggests on his post race interview on F1.com that they are good in slow speed corners and/or traction, I think he mainly means traction.

I personally am not reading too much into those figures, Horner said on Sky during the race that One of his drivers fuel flow sensor has 'died', if that's so how can the FIA show those fuel figures ACCURATELY as they did?
