This was in a touring car championship but as the news said - "Alex Zanardi won his first race Sunday since losing both legs in an accident in Germany in 2001."

I'm not really following touring car championships but I think they wouldn't be mentioning this in a way they did if this wasn't his first victory after the accident.

I heard it during race at Spa, remembered it today and than searched the web.

I actually dont know it was just something I heard or thought I heard. I did some searching for myself and all I could find was that he won a double Victory on the 11 and 12 of september.

But still Zanardi is one of the most impressive openwheel drivers/racers even though things didnt go his way during his brief spells in F1. At least in my mind.

Yes he won the Italian superturismo championship after winning both races a week ago (they have two races during one event).

So this was his 3rd victory since the accident and first title.

I decided to mention this 'cause he is ex-F1 driver and the first disabled driver to win a race (and now championship) among non-disabled opponents.
