Rumours are that the rb20 could be renamed to DM01 in memory of Mateschitz. We'll see.
.
Only one rumour on Twitter which Mathias Brunner deleted and someone put it on Reddit.
Maybe it is fake or he said to much.

I'm not sold on the rumour given they've already put 'RB20' pretty much everywhere

Very good point. But perhaps they're pushing the "rb20" angle a little 'too' much? Perhaps a big reach

There's no element of surprise without leading people on to RB20.

The idea of calling it DM01 could've come up recently.

I think it would be a nice gesture and I think they should do it.

It's not a "gotcha" type of thing to do.

Diminishing returns is a real thing and expecting teams to gain a second of lap time from the end of 23 to the beginning of 24 is very ambitious.
Both McL's Stella and AM's Fallows suggested that diminishing returns have yet to appear.

Indeed. AMuS also reported about a month ago that RB engineers confirmed to them that they have not experienced diminishing returns either. All signs point to a decent step forward by most teams this winter

The point I'm making is there was a lot of "free" lap time to be gained by dropping the weight and iterating on your first draft, as well as understanding how hard you can push your engine and "fixing reliability". I believe a lot of those things were one time effects, not things we can expect every year, especially with the weight and engines. There may not be diminishing returns on pure aero development, but gaining a second of pure chassi/aero performance over the winter in stable regs would be above expectation for me, or at the very upper end of expectation.

Seen on twitter

Possibly to run their shakedown at Silverstone February 13th in an event with press and 15 guests

V unlikely but possible it's true

RBR are launching their car on Febr 15, not Febr 13.
Febr 13 open for the Press?? The launch is two days later!
David Coulthard taking the RB1 for a spin?? Very unlikely.

Fair enough. :D

Press being there doesn't mean they will release info immediately - press embargoes are a normality in f1. Maybe the 15th Feb Silverstone wasn't available? Have other teams booked it out?

Is Allison insinuating diminishing returns for Mercedes here?

“There is also just a little bit that nestles in the back of our heads, which is that the rules themselves have a much more sort of clear upper bound to them in the amount of lap time these cars are capable of producing.

“It’s a much more clear upper bound to them than the older generation of cars, which the more love you gave them and the more labour you put into them, the faster they got, seemingly without end.

I think from 2022 to 2023 and throughout 2023 the field compressed. I think even without diminishing returns this is possible to happen and continue:

Those at the front have less WT/CFD time and those at the back have a lot more so they find more.

So maybe he's referring to this feature rather than diminishing returns for Merc. But if he is then maybe they're in for a harsh shock, but seems unlikely to happen for the third year running.

IIRC they did a shakedown last year where we only saw very distant grainy footage from passers by, so I assume the shakedown could happen before launch this year too?

I don't know if this is legit but the 13th is mentioned here:
