many people in F1 believe - without proof - that Red Bull's technical director Pierre Wache, effectively Newey's number two, is already on his way to Italy in the not-too-distant future may complicate matters.
About 6 months ago it was reported that Vasseur had attempted to recruit him (when they recruited Serra) but he turned it down. Maybe the move makes more sense now with RB's turmoil and Ferrari's recent furore. But as BBC themselves say, there's nothing to it - certainly not enough to warrant its own thread imo. Not even ham to Ferrari got one of those

Sometime mid of last year, reports came out that both Enrico Balbo and Pierre Wache declined Ferrari's offer as neither wanted to move out of UK.

That's not a source. That's probably written by someone reading this thread so it's just an echo chamber.

Well his best friend in the paddock is Loic Serra. They always together on weekends as they heavy smokers and have common interests. I wonder if Loic had a word??

He rejected the move when Vasseur previously approached at which point Serra was already moving. So I don't think that could be a new factor

Both are French and worked for Michelin in the same period - both stayed there for years until Michelin’s withdrawal from F1 in 2006 and together joined BMW Sauber (Serra as Head of Vehicle Performance and Wache as performance engineer) where they stayed for another 3 years until BMW’s withdrawal from F1 in 2009. Then Wache replaced Serra as Head of Vehicle Performance at Sauber and Serra joined Mercedes.

The report added that Ferrari also have their eye on a second key figure, one they hope to leverage Laurent Mekies’ swap to AlphaTauri to acquire.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport that person will not be Enrico Balbo nor Pierre Waché as both have already turned Ferrari down.

Reporting that ‘the target is obviously Red Bull’s top engineers’, the Italian publication adds that the ‘attempts so far do not appear to have been successful.

‘There was a move for Enrico Balbo, aerodynamics chief of Red Bull, but the negotiations immediately stopped due to the latter’s refusal to leave Milton Keynes.

‘In addition, Pierre Waché, the technical director of the World Champion team, was contacted. But even in this case the proposal was rejected.’

Naturally the rumors have gotten out of hand due to the public theater,,,

Has anyone stopped to consider the improbability of every big player suddenly jumping to Ferrari? How would Ferrari pay for all of these people? In the last week Newey, Balbo, and Wache are all going to Ferrari with Serra...

Does this pass a critical thinking assessment?

Plenty of catering expenses for everyone. Just need a bit more tortellini.

Serra is arriving but also Sanchez, Mekies and other senior Binotto guys have been sent packing by Fred so I would say there is room for a signing or two. Even after Fallows and other high profile poaches AMR were knocking on Allison's door remember

Even then, this is not Pokémon. Ferrari can't just "catch them all" just as Aston failed to capture James Allison.

Serra left Merc because he disagreed with leadership. Never once was it posited that Wache would leave RB and go to Mercedes because Serra was there but now apparently Wache will leave RB and go to Ferrari because Serra is there.

All of this wild speculation is only in-season for other reasons...Rb are having an incredible run of form, and even moved Newey aside to protect their staff. There will only be disappointment for the rest.
