McLaren MP 4/5 vs MP4/4 transmission

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

McLaren MP 4/5 vs MP4/4 transmission

Post

Can some please explain the main differences between the two transmissions? The 4/4 looks to be longer than the 4/5 for a start.

Mmm, I guess as the 4/5 used the Weismann Transverse Transmission for the last half of the '89 season, instead of the longitudinal version. So which GPs?

Keep answering my questions...in order:

8 British GP 16 July
9 German GP
10 Hungarian GP
11 Belgian GP
12 Italian GP
13 Portuguese GP
14 Spanish GP
15 Japanese GP
16 Australian GP

Anyone got photos of the transverse transmission?
