Williams Chassis FW26 PPS #1 - what is PPS?

Post

Hi! Some one I know is wondering what PPS means. It's written on the chassis plate in an older Williams F1 car. Says Chasis Nr.: FW26 PPS #1

He got some suggestions ranging from Pre-Preg Composite Sandwich, Penske Performance South, Parked Position Sensor and some others...

Anyone know this for sure?

Thanks!

Hi there!

PPS in the context of an older Williams F1 car likely stands for 'Pre-Preg Composite Sandwich.

See Pre-preg refers to a type of composite material used in the construction of race car chassis. It involves pre-impregnating fibers with a resin before laying them into a mold. This method results in lightweight and high-strength components, which are crucial for performance in Formula 1 cars.

So, it's quite likely that PPS #1 on the chassis plate denotes the particular construction method or material used in that specific car.

Hope this helps clarify things.
