Brawn makes clear Ferrari mark on RA108

By on

Honda's new team principal Ross Brawn has clearly had his influence in the newest Honda. The knowledge he gathered at Ferrari particularly shows in the sidepod area. Marked in the image are the cut upper edge of the barge boards. Behind the bargeboard and also pointed out is the strong and simple leading edge at the bottom of the sidepod. Honda is however not following the outboard mirror style which appears not to be very favourable due to the higher edges of the cockpits. The RA108 also follows the Ferrari and Renault trend to simplify the sidepod panel and reduce its size.

Hi Tomba,

I\'m glad to hear your comments about the RA108, and I was wondering if you could shed some light on the very high and slim nose with the wing hung very low. Also, I was wondering if you could backtrack and talk about the new Red Bull chassis. Apart from the all new suspension, it\'s hard for me to pick out differences between the old and new Red Bull and what effect those changes have. Thank you very much if you oblige me!

Me again :)
In particular about the RA108\'s nose, it is a huge contrast to the R28 which has a very \'fat\' front end. That\'s the origin of my RA108 question...

Allright... a post on the RA108 nose to follow ;)

Bar55 has been doing numerous photo by photo comparisons of all the old and new rides in the forum.

I beleive he has a comparison of the RB\'s.

He is our comparison posting deity.

Tomba, Brawn only started at Honda 26 November 2007. I don\'t think he could have had any input in the design of this year chassis which was probably well into production before he arrived. Perhaps, he may have given direction on the add on item like the stepped cut barge boards which look very Ferrari like.
