Hamilton saying he's not that fast anymore just makes me realise how special Fernando is. They've both declined with age, as is normal, but Fernando's ability to maintain motivation despite all the years without success and terrible cars is incredible.

Not that we didn't already know this, of course, but it is a reminder that there won't be anyone else like him

Maybe the new drive simulator is improved that AM? Losail should be terrible to AM's understeer and they are using the Budapest floor and that floor never can good results. could be the result of a better configuration coming from the new simulator? De La Rosa said some weeks ago the drive simulator was in operation

Hamilton just want to start at Maranello. He does not want to be in that Mercedes car anymore. Alonso said that Hamilton will fight for the title next year so is not anything close to decline. And not Alonso as well.
Both of them are on a league of their own in the sport.

Alonso is also not as fast as he used to be. The difference is that he has Stroll as a comparison, while Hamilton has Russell.

Well obviously. I said both declined. The point is, despite being even older and not having had success for a much longer time period, he has not come to that point yet of self-doubt. It definitely helps having Stroll as a teammate but Fernando's mental fortitude is huge.

He had Ocon as teammate in 2021 and 2022 and even he finished 2022 9 points behind, he had a lot of more problem than Ocon and Ocon is so much better than Stroll, i think. I dont believe Hamilton lost his speed, he just desmotivated and he needs change to Ferrari. He mastered the Silverstone grand prix this year, he didnt lose his speed now.

Seeing the positivity and determination from Alonso, i hope AMR team will provide a competitive car for next year. If they can provide a car at least 80% on par with top teams, rest assured he can do the magic...

I have sympathy with the sentiment but I think all teams are are 80% on par with the top teams. In fact, far closer than that. As much as I love Alonso, at 43 I'm not as delusional as to think he wouldn't need the outright fastest car or at least on par with the fastest car to beat the likes of Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris etc. over a season. 10 years ago maybe that wouldn't be the case, but now I think it is.

Look at the difference last year. Aston was a podium-capable car, Lance never was in the situation to be on the podium. There is no reason for Alonso to push like crazy when everyone knows that there is no chance for a place even in the top 5-7.

Ask them to show us evidence he's slower, he might be but I want to see it.

You have a short memory. The Ferrari and McLaren was clearly faster than the Aston Martin for most of the season last year, and Alonso still "beat" the likes of LeClerc, Norris, etc.

That's hard to say really, it was a season of two halves where Aston had an advantage early on where they we clearly the second fastest team. When they moved backwards around halfway thorugh the season, the top places were very much up for grabs for Mclaren, Mercedes and Ferrari. So the points were divided amongs more drivers.

I'm not denying that Alonso is still a top driver, but I think the days of "give him a car within a few tenths of the best car and he will win the championship" are a thing of the past. Do you honestly believe he beats Vestappen in an inferior car? Sorry but I do think that is a touch delusional. Alonso is my favourite driver and the guy I'm rooting for every race but I'm also a realist.

Funny thing , that last lap of the sprint, Alonso was 1 second a lap faster that the previous laps. He was fuel saving for half the sprint race...wonder if he's is actually faster in race trim than he showed in the sprint.
