Sauber 2017-2018 packaging comparison (via F1i.com):
Pretty sharp bend on that middle header primary. Looks to be for the rearmost cylinder.ScrewCaptain27 wrote: ↑19 Apr 2018, 23:43Haas VF-18 packaging. Very similar radiator layout to SF70-H and VF-17. (Via F1i.com)

That any tiny efficiency loses are minimal compared to the aerodynamic gains of packaging everything so close.
actually yes meant the middle. So the bend projects outward to the viewer then. Looks like it does a helix!MrPotatoHead wrote: ↑21 Apr 2018, 21:14That’s actually the middle cylinder and it isn’t kinked. Its an illusion.
It will flow just fine.
Bore is regulated hence stroke is same for all manufacturerPlatinumZealot wrote: ↑25 Apr 2018, 03:48Could ferrari be running a long stroke engine with scavwnging ports at the base of the cylinders? They can snuff crank case oil vapours from there if the boost into the scrank case is high enough.
As already stated the Bore is mandated and so the stroke will be the same for all of the engines.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑25 Apr 2018, 03:48Could ferrari be running a long stroke engine with scavwnging ports at the base of the cylinders? Ferrari running very low tension piston rings? Benefit of reduced friction at high rpm.Mudflap wrote: ↑24 Apr 2018, 22:12Heard through the grapevine:
At a FIA meeting last week Renault have proposed even lower oil consumption limits. Ferrari was the only manufacturer to reject the proposal stating that they can't meet the current limit (!?).
It was also proposed to limit the auxiliary oil tank volume. Again, Ferrari declined stating they need at least 4 litres.
Yes, this comes from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy etc, but so far it's been a reliable source.
