ITS JUST NO FUN BASHING SOMEONE WHO IS BRUISED FROM HEAD TO TOE.....HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH BRUISE WAS YOURS?? ;-)

plus you got to feel sorry for someone who presents as an unshaven alcoholic bum who looks like they just woke up from sleeping on a park bench.....

I'll bet my bottom dollar that buttons end will come sooner rather than later. the man has had a serious amount of bad luck but lets face the facts....he stayed with a team that was paying him extremely well and didn't really chase a better drive did he??? seemed like he was in the comfort zone and too busy living the "life".

Just a point about Hakkinen and the replies to my original post.

I'll admit that I never really rated Hakkinen as being 'great' BUT IMO Schumacher always seemed to afford him the respect that I can't think of him doing for anyone else (bar Senna briefly) and that's why I consider that he's probably better than I inherently think he is. To my mind if Schumacher rated him, then that's probably quite a good measure.

Frankly we can all debate all we like about who's good, solid, great or just lucky with cars but none of us really know as we're all just armchair experts (and I just can't wait to hear the howls of indignation... :) ) so I'll stick with what I believe is Schumacher's view, thanks.

Why is everyone going on about Schumacher IMO I thought he's just a good driver with the best kit... Soon as another car came along which was a match for him Alonso's car he lost....

I know itsnot strictly on topic but the bit in bold got me thinking: Schumi rates Lewis, Vettel & Felipe highly too, and I'm not sure but I think he holds Alonso in high regard (he should do, Fernando beat him fair n square in 06, not just when the car was miles better in '05). By that Measure we've got some real talent in F1 atm, and whether one agrees with the popular concencus of drivers such as Jenson, Lewis, Felipe, Kimi, Fernando, Nico, Seb Vettel et al, we can count ourselfs quite spoilt.

We've come a long way since the days when:
Alex Yoong
Tarso Marques
Zolt Baumgartner
Ricardo Rosset
and Taki Inoue
to name but a few

were considered as "F1 material."

"...sees a different man in the car to the Button of last year. "He is working diligently with the engineers, and has been revitalized," Brawn added"

That sentence does say something about his attitude though....of course he would be working diligently now, because he has a winner in his hand, but did he just do less than what he is capable of when he is driving a turd?

I agree. All the drivers, with (I imagine) few exceptions, are top material. Any one of them on almost any day can win, given the proper equipment.

They are so close, they run laps with differences of tenths of second in a total of over a minute (even with cars that have different advantages and weaknesses) that I think there is a difference in ability around 0.1%. Besides, those abilities change with time, sometimes up, sometimes down.

For this reason, there are no bashers in this forum that go unpunished... in a friendly way. At least, I think that in this site there is a core of true, passionate, unashamed fanatics of F1 (and not fans but fanatics) that admires the entire grid, not a particular driver. That's a valid way of thinking. Many people around is interested in all of them, drivers. Every time a member talks bad about anything in Formula One, drivers included, is our duty to help him see the light... O:) So, I would like someone to point out when have we, core fans, have talked bad about any driver.

Although Andrea de Cesaris was terrible... :D

Other than that, we feel free to criticize the attitude of drivers. That's very different from bashing about their abilities.

Of course, Jenson, well, as any of us has many points to be criticized. The point is: why to criticize? You can, sure, with little joy (opposite to what the author of this thread assumes we do) but only when the criticism is relevant toward his sportmanship, which, up to date, to my knowledge, nobody doubts. He has the support of many, because he doesn't cheat.

Or at least (and I say this only for the more cynical elements around this site) he hasn't been caught ... :D

It's nice to see Button doing as well as he is considering the last two years but its hurts to see Rubans getting such "bad luck."

We dont know if the grid stall in Austrailia was his fault, and then be got back ended by HEikki.

The gearbox penlty was definatly not his fault but he did ok in qualifying although it would be hard for him to outqual a superlight Vettel.

I hope Rubans can put together a strong GP weekend so that we can really get the true measure of the 2 drivers heads up. I still think Rubans could be the better driver but JB is definatly making me think twice.

Maybe some days Button is better and some is Rubens, Islamatron. I bet he will win. Incredible, for a guy that has broken all records of resistance. Isn't Barrichello the guy with more GPs in history? How old is he? Like 75 or so?

That thought makes me reaffirm in my point of view: these guys are all admirable. If they weren't so, they wouldn't be on the F1 grid, the place "where the dreams of all drivers in the world converge."®

I would like to add for Mr. Button supporters that in F1, as in any competitive sport, the guy in front has all the arrows pierced in his back, so, please, do not get mad when Mr. Button starts to receive the first ones. He will, he will.

Rubens always plays second fiddle when he has a fast car.. LOL..

Button is only 5 points ahead.. So is button that much better than Rubens to keep him off? Or can Rubens FINALLY get a world championship?

Just love that quote from MrE, "He's got his talent confused with his salary".

Sorry axle, I know you be infuriated now, but couldn't help it in this context.

Not nessecaily. It's not like he had a crap car for one year and got the hump. (I'd agree with you totally if that were the case).

He's had a crap car now for four consecutive years (albeit 2006 wasn't too bad) from a manufacturer backed team, with huge resources. After all that, and especially after writing off '07 and then getting a car arguably as bad in '08 I'd imagine he'd be rather pissed off. Hell I'd like to see ANY driver not get disillusioned after that ordeal.

So of course you'll find a revitalised driver this year, FINALLY his team have delivered on their promises to him. For him, its a refreshing change, oh, and finding out he had a race drive with just 3 weeks to go certainly has done it's bit too!

GUESS WE'LL LEAVE THE BASHING TO BUTTON NOW AS HE THROWS A FEW SWINGS AT HIS TEAM.
All of a sudden his brawn GP racer has issues. What i dont understand is how he claims the other teams have caught up to brawn but then he proceeds to make excuses and lead into the suggestion their car has lost performance.

Time for this "paracarro" to return to his park bench with his bottle of scotch and dream of what could have been, (that we all knew was never going to be)

Someone buy this homeless GP star a razor.....please.

I can't see a problem with that. It is quite obvious that the other teams has caught up with their updates, while Brawn isn't having one until Spain. And it is also obvious that the Brawns is having trouble heating their tyres up in qualifying, hence the better tyre management in the race. Button has been driving flawlessly in the last few race, and certainly this is as fast the car can go at the moment.

And in the site you provided, Button isn't blaming his team for the drop of performace. He is simply being realistic and stating the facts. Oh well i guess people just see what they want to see.
