The "icecream sandwich" floor strake arrangement is being used to create a powerful vortex which then flows down towards the floor edge and enters the floor tunnels at the wing/inlet area.
Yes, to me there are basically three parts (besides the front wing as everyone) that generate classical vortices: The double barge, the small wing on the Halo and the bigger wing on the halo going to the inside.
I see no different reason for these parts than generating these vortices, especially for the halo wings.
This will be a point of discussion, I wonder if FIA bans them directly or after this season. Nice hole in the rules.
