Mercedes W15

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

very hard wobbling on the front wing of the W15 in comparison to the SF-24, MCL38 and AMR24. do you have a gif of the RB20 fw in the same corner maybe too?
Its very low speed and very undamped because skow air movement through the wing. The wings are also very deep so their is a lot of deflection to deal with when it's jolted over the curbs.

Deflection at speed is more interesting... But yeah would be a interesting comparison to other cars at this corner never theless.

George said he will be using the upgraded floor tomorrow morning and Lewis will run the floor from Spa, but is 99% sure they will end up putting upgrades on both cars

What is that tweet saying is interesting? The front wing wobbling due to the car encountering a kerb, or the smoke or dust at the rear?
The smoke/dust looks like dust on the track as it gets pushed out from the side of the car first before the rear. :)

The dust is result of plank strike on curb as it hits the high point of curb with wheels straddling that curb.

Initially the front end "tea tray" part that hits first, that to expell plank material out through the front of floor turning vanes to exit side of chassis in front of rear wheels.

Further plank dust expelled via rear diffuser voids from strike more underneath the driver seat area.

Good detail in tbat clip though.

The wing looks less flexible in that clip from Monza than a similar one from Spa. The Spa wing seemed almost floppy it was flexing so much

I think the sausage curb in Spa is a harsher impact

That car has 2 wheels off the ground at one point as it rides over that curb.

The behaviour of the flex seemed different too.

But maybe it's nothing, as I don't see it mentioned anywhere else. It just does look interesting to me, especially with their results.
