From lando: lap was easily good enough but he had to back off for the yellow.
So there it is, we can stop arguing
It is incredible. The yellow flag was a mistake. Ocon was not damaged, he was moving slowly to stay out of the way.

What a bad luck.

Would he have made the mistake without the yellow? is a waste of time. He might of been distracted, who knows. But it wasn't a problem today.
People not seem to get it. It's not the yellow. The yellow was badluck. What isn't badluck is how many times Norris fumbled a critical qualifying lap, a race start or races in general. Let's not kid ourselves. Piastri will demolish him if he keeps improving like that next year. He already fixed his race pace. I remember some years back Norris gave an ultimatum to the team to give a fast car cause he won't be waiting forever. Now that he has a fast car what is he doing? Lewis Hamilton got the same wins as Norris with the 4th best car and he is our last Mclaren champion.
Look at the mini sectors, he was accelerating as normal, the mistake would have been at most 0.5-1 tenth and he still would have been through without the yellow.

How many mistakes has Piastri made during races where he cooks tires

Did you just see the replay man. He was full speed on T16 and made a mistake. What a horrible excuse when everyone can just look back at the replay.

He made a mistake but looked to be on throttle but then had to lift off on the straight because yellow was shown for Ocon. Then it quickly changes to green and Lando is down on speed on the straight.

So if there was time lost due to mistake, he lost much more due to lifting off in clear 100% area on a 2km straight.

Based on the first 2 sectors, Lando was faster than Piastri. But there isn't much to be taken from this Q performance other than unlucky.

It doesn't matter if you're 2 seconds up for 99% of the track, but then bottle it all in one corner at the end.

but might that lift had to with the YELLOW flag and not the mistake or are we going to blame anything bad that happens in the world on lando???

You are focusing on sonething that wouldn’t have impacted his ability to get through. When the flags are what caused him to not go through.

Because I am not discussing the yellow flag, I am discussing the mistake. He has done this way too often when it matters. You're saying he did not make a mistake and Lando is excusing himself as well, when pretty clearly, he ran wide before the yellow.

🤭🤭🤭 There are, as in every sport, some veeery smart fans, knowing everything.
Let's move on, is P17 and nothing to do about it. When was last time McLaren had a car, a driver, fighting for championship? Some of the today fans were probably babies.
Let's keep pushing 🧡
