On the last picture, under the nose, over tea tray, what is that? Pressure sensor? It looks quite big.

Edit: it looks like cooling fan.

Could someone explain what's behind Sauber running an asymmetrical rear wing? It appears as though they have run the symmetrical version with two dips in the wing, then two others with a single one on either end.

I think that they ahven't decided what it should look like, so are running without and collecting real world data before finishing the design. Or they put this part lower on their priority list, and simply didn't get to it yet. Would be nice to know, I have to agree with you.

Be cautious when looking into things regarding C33 as Sauber's 2014 main aero is yet to be introduced. But just as an speculation, in case the "real" indeed doesn't feature vanes on sidepods anymore, that might be related to no need to manage the airflow in that way as now there is not exhaust airflow being channeled out of the sidepod exits. That vanes probably had also a purpose of guiding airflow in such a way to not disturb the exhaust gases going towards the sealing area of diffuser/tyre.

What I like about C33 is that the nose allows for big amount of airflow to reach the teatray/splitter, second only to Caterham. Given how many constraints have been put in regulations for downforce in the rear(shallower RW, no more EBD and beam wing), the designers have to focus, imho, in providing as much rear df as possible. The front end also got some restriction with the narrower FW, but far less restriction than at the rear.

What I don't like about the car is the bulky sidepod(probably Ferrari engine needs huge cooling) and how the rear wishbones are designed. It seems it will be difficult to copy Mclaren's wall-like wishbones, and that is a MUST HAVE thing on the car due to all the benefits of it(increase df in the upper body as well as making the diffuser more efficient)

Have you paid any attention to the F14 T? The bulky sidepods are on Sauber and not the Ferrari power unit, the F14 T is proof of this.

Back to the Sauber, it will be interesting to see how competitive they are this year. Much of it will be down to the power unit, but if it's good and the team can keep up development, they might can finish ahead of SFI

Can anyone explain why the Sauber has so much larger sidepods than the Ferrari F14-T if they use the same power unit? Assuming they must be using the same radiators and intercooler set-up, so is the sidepod shape strictly down to the individual teams' aero ?
