I think Giovinazzi is still a possibility, he already has some experience in a backmarker team and the Formula E cars are also ground effect based.
If they manage an agreement with Renault, maybe Oscar Piastri could have the seat.
Giovinazzi would be a solid choice, and a step forward for the team, moving away from 100% pay drivers. He’d be a genuine benchmark for Mick also. Piastri would be a more exciting choice, but that’s returning to 2 inexperienced drivers.

Gio would indeed be a great choice!

Giovanazzi had flashes of speed in qualifying from time to time, and dissapeared during races.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

He’s an experienced solid performer and with their close Ferrari ties Haas could realistically get him I’d imagine. I’m struggling to think of anyone else with experience that may go there.

I imagine the Schumacher family would welcome Gio also, as a mentor for Mick and a benchmark. If Mick performs well beside Mazepin or Fittipaldi it means almost nothing, if he performed well alongside Gio it would mean a lot more.

On the other hand signing Chadwick would create a lot of extra pr for being the only woman. Which is good for sponsors which they absolutely need now

I would love to see Jamie Chadwick in the seat. Mick better not lose to a girl though! haha

Does Jamie have some money behind her? Would love for her to be on the grid and be tested. Her appearance on the grid alone could inspire generations of women to go into open wheel racing.

That would be great! She's a Williams development driver and I think she hasn't (yet) got enough licence points... Plus, I would hope, that someone like Chadwick doesn't have to be in a team at the end of the grid, else it might even hurt the inspirational thingy (oh look a her, well, yeah... last...). She's a real racer with real prospects, AM would be great or AT. Or Williams if they find their way up!

If she couldn’t come up with enough sponsorship for a seat in F2, I doubt she will for F1

My guess, with the bigger exposure of F1 va F2, that a sponsor deal for F1 is easier than F2. Deals for F2 are often investment deals and loans.

With the best will in the world Chadwick couldn’t run at the front in British F3 or F3 Euroformula open. 2020 Euroformula Open she had a Prema drive (Prema dominated the series) and performed very poorly. Outside W Series her single seater career is over.

I say this as someone that thinks a female driver would be great for F1. However we have to be realistic.

I was thinking in comparative terms (to other drivers that actually had enough backing to racing in F2)… Considering that Haas is a team that needs to the backing / sponsoring (specially considering they are losing their main sponsor), I would venture to say that there are a few other drivers that could bring more sponsorship to the team (like Pietro) and that Haas would give priority.

I agree though, that having the only female F1 driver on the grid for a full season would be quiet the PR stunt for a team that desperately needs some good publicity after been in the wrong side of it for several years now.

I can't believe the stupidity in sanctioning poor Mazepin... :( :(

These Idiotic & Corrupt Politicians should keep out of sport...
Once the Black Lives Matter movement was allowed to use F1 as a platform the argument of keeping politics out of the sport was lost, you can not cherry pick the acceptable parts to acknowledge whilst brushing the ones you'd rather overlook under the carpet.

I will stop you there.

The F1 “We race as one” is about inclusivity and acceptance for all.

Anyway, what's sporty about being able to buy your way in? It's not like Nikita was there for his exquisite performance. And if the 'sport' component is essentially being able to collect enough money to get in, then yes, the source of that funding may play a role.

And perhaps I am wrong, but I haven't heard Nikita speaking out against the unfolding events. Perhaps there would be some more compassion if he did.
