Mercedes is too slow on the straights.
Yup, still looks like the Merc is waaaay to draggy in general. As long as they're not able fix their aero efficiency, they won't catch the RB...

I wouldnt trust this chart, I don't know for others, but I realy don't know where Albons time of 1:26.053 (3 laps) comes from. Acording to the FIA timings he did the folowing laps in FP2 (including red flag)

13 1:25.717
14 7:25.963
15 1:25.730
16 1:25.965

That would give him a 3 lap average of 1:25,804 :?
I "erase" the fuel effect, to be able to compare different runs. That's why the times are a bit different
And how do you know how much fuel was in everyone's car?

I was not talking about fuel load there, but about the fuel effect, which is more or less known, and the same for everybody. So if a car gains 0.1s per lap due to weight loss, for example, I add those back to the lap time.

It wasn't really necessary for a session like yesterday, and also isn't 100% accurate of course with the data I have, but it gives a better opportunity to compare runs when drivers use different tyre types at a different times, for example. The teams use a similar (although of course better) method to compare laps as well.

As I expected, Ferrari is very fast on the straights and I expect Charles to put it on pole. In race Max should have better tire life. Mercedes “we won’t even make q3” are the next best team, allthough Albon is very fast as well. Mclaren and Alonso are bit of a dark horse.

It really is a battle of the draggy cars behind Red Bull and Ferrari. :wtf:

One ferrari will be on pole by 2 tenths, max either p2 or p3. Race similar to last year, ferrari will be impossible to overtake on track so itll have to be on strategy. I feel maybe ferrari has even decent race pace.

I reckon Ferrari have it turned right up this weekend.
Half expecting Sainz to beat Charles in Quali too.
I do think Max will get pole though, he always manages to pull it out the bag. But I think they will look after the tyres a LOT better in the race.

Was funny when Lewis set P1, Max rolls out the garage and puts it half a second quicker. Only for Bono to tell him that Verstappen has done his run and half a second up. To which Lewis replies, where on Earth am I going to find half a second man.  (it really does him no good to have Max set as his benchmark.)

Yes I feel it'll be an interesting race. Ferrari definitely on pole.

That said I don't think we saw extent to RB pace in any long run.

Albano thinks max left a couple of tenths on the table at Roggia so maybe the pole battle will be closer than imagined

Mercedes is too slow on the straights. Especially compared to Ferrari.
Mercedes is a lot more competitive on the straights today, matching RB.
