Red Bull RB21

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I appreciate the attempt, but the perspectives of these images are as different as it can be.
But with the sidepod drop I think you are right, especial in comparison with the early 24 model.

RB21 features a between-step wing in Australia, first Red Bull to have it since 2022. This medium-low spec slots above the spec they used in Melbourne a year ago, but under the medium-size spec they used in Bahrain test 2 weeks ago.

Red Bull kept all their strong design trends, optimised for highly-efficient downforce generation - extended square flap tips, U-shaped and low AoA on the main wing to ensure maximum DRS delta and clean and thin endplate transition segments

Hmm. They never had a proper low downforce wing, the one they used last year was pretty much a medium-low wing which was cut down on proper high speed tracks. I wonder if this new wing is a replacement for that or another step between the medium-low and the medium wing they used at Bahrain.

In general I feel like a lot of top teams have progressively moved towards less wing over the years, as the floors have improved. They can get away with using medium wings on medium-high tracks. McLaren basically only runs a single plane beam wing with a medium wing on tracks like Brazil and Abu Dhabi that were traditionally medium-high.

Along with the new rear wing pictured above, Autoracer and The Race say that red bull are persisting with the new floor tried (and taken back off the car) on day 3 of testing

Very intriguing slot gap. Not seen that before. May be standard but first time I’ve seen it

i believe so, yea
I think everything on the list was brought since the beginning of Bahrain testing 2025. Most of the items were introduced during the test at some point, but a few items were not ready and are making their first appearance at Australia.

I don't think that they are doing the "changes since 2024" approach this time around.

I think it's compared to last year, on the Ferrari one it says switch from push rod to pull rod

which of the two floors used in Bahrain is in the car for the Aus GP ? the v1 floor or the v2 floor (that was tested and then rejected within one test session) ?

As I understand Max used the new floor all the way(v2), while Lawson tried v1 on Friday.
It is not clear whether Lawson switched to v2 on Saturday or not.
