Toyota TF110

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I couldnt understand why Toyota didnt do what Honda did in 2008 and let someone run or own the team. The car does look like a world beater like the Brawn car. They could of used Cosworth or Renault engines. Its a shame that we didnt get to see the car in action this year.
Engineering student, but still learning alot about Formula One cars and I can Admit that

I feel toyota made a bad move contracting themselves to stefan .If they had carried on without commiting to this not existing entry the chances to become supplier or even more to HRT or USGP would have been almost 100%.But then always they had to negotiate through third parties ..thats just impossible.
sometimes you just have to be patient and have a proper plan in hand,eg instead of playing the waiting game, realise the Cosworth adaption to be a feasible option for the new teams.
It could well have been that HRT would not have carried on with Dallara and that would now make HRT the best newcomer team without a doubt...

What makes you think that HRT or USF1 had money to pay Toyota.

HRT paid Dallara eventually...no money no car..and they finished the car ..again money you need to have ...

USGP they had Chad Hurley .the guy could and would have paid that bill ,he was shying away from injecting more money into USGP when he saw they would not be able to get the car ready in time ..and the negotiations with Stefan GP were fruitless since Stefanovic just trying to grab their entry..As far as i know Hurley was negotiating with a lot of people to find a solution

Seeing is one thing, understanding is another. If you or anyone else on here think they can post process a visual inspection on the car and then judge the it's aerodynamics based on what you see then I have to call BS.

Anyway, returning to the Toyota. I only got June issue of RCE, is the July one already out?? Would be interesting to actually discuss some ACTUAL aspects of the car.

Cool, i do hate it when people say aspie. Makes it sound cute.

back on topic.
Im not sure how well pirelli can test using this car knowing next years cars wont have the DDD loophole to work with. They would have to try this car with the second deck blocked off to mimic next years levels.

the author of this is a forum member..ss collins ...(?)..according to current
law nobody save race engineering mag would be allowed to publish this here.
If you go to the mag website and look for back issues -zinio mags -it might be possible you get some pages of the relevant article as a preview..
I´m a regualar reader of this mag since day one or two and still would recommend to go and buy ,maybe even an online version...it is worth the expense even if one would just get a first impression about the topic not the full story .

With reference to the pirelli tyre test with the tf109 ..the pics published showed not the lataest iteration of front wing endplate (half tube shape deflector) so maybe they closed of the ddd difusser in an attempt to have a more
realistic downforce level as well..anyways they sure run enough ballast to have the mandatory weight distribution + simulate fuelloads not possible with the small fuelbladder of the 109..I´d guess..so they are just lacking a representative wheelbase..but as far as I know the toyota already was a long car in 2009 especially with the tf110 rearend ,wich is a topic covered by the RE piece....Maybe our forum collegue is prepared and allowed to post more pics of the TF110 ? I found myself begging for more pics after reading the article..

The size of the fuel tank was 170 liters

Isn't this a lot smaller than a Renault fuel tank (which people estimate at a size of 220 liters)?

The forgotten car of 2010, the Stefan GP S-01 aKa the TF110-01 The first chassis. The previous car in black, has not turned a wheel and is named TF110-02 predictably.

This is the Testing spec car, as he guys in Cologne have also devised a F-Duct and other wing stalling ideas. A new front wing and a EBD as well whitch would have gone into the "extreme double diffuser" that it has as well.

I have no doubts that this car would have been fast enough to win a couple of GPs somewhere. As a good looking car is also a fast one???

Well, I consider Ferrari F92A one of the most beautiful car ever made and it struggled to score points :)

But yeah, the car looks good. Also, there was an article that Toyota's engine, having longer stroke and smaller bore than others would benefit greatly from 18k rpm limit.
However, I just don't see Toyota racing as team that can push and maintain momentum. The key of their troubles IMO.
