Simple:
I was on a military exercise in Gibralter once and a big American warship came into harbour and said over the radio.
'Good Morning from the biggest navy in the world'.
A little Royal Navy Frigate replied, 'good Morning from the 'best'.

We do not bow and scrape to the yankee doodles and we never will, they just ask us when they want a difficult job done. It has always been like that.

Unfortunately it is the American thirst for oil that has kept back world improvements of all types for well over half a century.

Royal navy is not what it used to be. Sadly gyro, you living in the past on that one.
Only 1 country in the world can mobilize 500,000 fully equiped fully trained soldiers with the best equipment on the planet(at great expense of vast quantities of oil no doubt). Along with hundreds of aircraft and cruiser eqipped with all sorts of hellish weapons..

I digress: America is actively seeking out pastures new in terms of energy, and for those who know of a certain Craig venter, will know exactly what Im on about.

It is not what you have got it is what you do with it and many powerful nations have put Britain down to their cost through out history. Always a mistake ask the Boers.
The Americans may have awesome weapons and lots of them it is just a shame they are again loosing just like they always do.
Strange how they always ignore this fact.
Same in the alternate energy technology.
They just pay lip service to it.

Gyro your example of the boers is poor.

The boers owned the better equipped english in the highveldt for years. They used guerilla tactics and it hurt the english so much it took them years to devise a strategy to beat them.
Do you know what won the war? Sheer weight of numbers and some serious english skulldugery.
For the record it was the english that created concentration camps. In South Africa. Against the Boers.
More could have been done.

Unless you change Americas foreign and domestic policy you will not be able to make any worthwhile moves to replace fossil fuels.
The technology to do so is already available but useing it will be prevented until this change is made.

Oh and two words for the two Boer wars and the S African war.
Britain won.

Hahaha
Makes you wonder how many other Americans in the pay of the oil industry will keep pulling the wool over the eyes of the public. In this case with science originating at Cambridge University.
Another delaying tactic. I have heard his lecture.

So where are all the huge energy benefits that this will give the world JET.
President Obama has just sacked his second commander under hostile fire.
Realy great that campaign isnt it!!!!
I am sick to death of Yank lies, both on their bloody Empire building wars and their promises on energy.
We are loosing our people almost every day to prop up this criminal action and I will take any opertunity to say so.
The absolute truth is that the American administration does not have a single clue either on warfare or energy.

I do not think many people living around the Gulf of Mexico will be interested in joining your bandwagon.
You will have to go a hell of a lot further to convince them that what you are supporting isnt just the next load of BS and lies by the oil lobby.

Oh and the Americans have 'never ever' showed the world how it is done not in the history of their nation. In fact they simply use other nations expertise.
So trusting them with the future in alternate energy will probably be the worlds death nell.

The thread is Replacing fossil fuels
How can this issue be addressed if the root causes of the continued use of fossil fuel is not discused?
Fossil fuel can easily be replaced in a relatively short period, the technology is already available, it just needs the will to do it.
