Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I don't mean official sources, but rather at least pics to go by from the "other forum".

also, what we learn from this vid is that FERRARI sent a team for a straight line aero testing probably between jerez and bcn, with rigon driving the car.

What do you think?
So it looks like they did the straight line tests.

Nothing in any of the usual news sourses!
Does Ferrari still get to use the 100km straight-line/filming run that they missed out on due to snow?
I would suppose so my suspicion they will use it after Barca 2 if the ice at Fiorano melts off, or do it after Barca 2.

If I'm not wrong, they can do this test in Vairano.

Or even Mugello I find it positive with 9 laps completed with an average of 1:24's that means they have found a medium with the car and slowly building the founding blocks of this new car.

No they can't run at Mugello until the Official F1 test. Has something do do with a noise/pollution ordinance in the town. Pretty crappy really. I'm wondering as well where they'll do a filming day.

@InsideFerrari: Again we're workin on different exhaust layouts: interesting job but a bit time consuming...

New exhaust now blowing the beam wing in more of a RB style layout.

Who would consider an F1 engine noise pollution? I would be the filming day will be used right before they leave for Australia.

How much of a knock-on effect on the car's aerodynamics would moving its exhausts further inboard have? I'm assuming they would get rid of the bodywork extensions that house the exhausts were they to make such a move. So what then?

It seems like that would alter a pretty significant piece of the puzzle, so to speak.

That's assuming they're using that extension only for the exhausts. I think there's more to it. But I agree moving them inboard will change things a bit.
